    They did.

Expecting a huge anti-Italian backlash in the US media now. Oh well.

Good news. Why the backlash? Is the media over there generally on her side?

Yes. It is outrageous. Go onto cnn.com and check out the live reporter. She is about to cry.

In the early days the coverage was fairly neutral and we learned all the gruesome details of the case and the mountain of evidence. But as the trial began all that changed and you'd hear mostly about the poor parents and the strange Italian legal system etc etc.

I must say i am a little surprised at the amount of coverage this particular case has had. Seems to be quite a big one over there too.

It is a huge deal here. We had many hours of prime time TV dedicated to this case.

It always seems to be that way when "one of us" goes abroad and faces an unjust world. Just like the girl who got killed in the Caribbean and the media couldn't get enough of it. This case too is not seen as a murder case but as how the Italian justice system screws an American over.

I have been critical of a lot of things in Italy including its legal system, but it is hard to argue against a case that has been going on for an entire year with so much overwhelming evidence.

Sorry, I didn't mean the system per se is strange, but some of its outcomes. As is ours. :)

They go nuts over replicas there. Destroying real vintage Maser parts because they were used in recreations makes no sense.

    But I digress.

I suppose the UK media have been guilty of similar things a fair few times, perhaps they see it as kind of 'looking after their own' in some way. I will be glad to hear the last of her mother and father bleating on the radio about their poor innocent daughter.

Same here, although I expect the contrary: They're now arming for the appeals process.

Just curious what the 'overwhelming evidence' might be? From what I've seen (and yes, from the US media), there was no evidence that Knox was in the room as opposed to the guy that already got convicted and left fingerprints everywhere, and the 'blood' on the knife was circumstantial and miniscule at best. What haven't we been told?

Actually the earlier reports on US TV were a lot more telling and forthcoming than the more recent ones where they made it a sob fest.

The blood on the knife was a strong one for me. She had her finger and foot (?) prints in the blood in the room. There was DNA from her in the place. She changed her story over and over again. Her behavior after the murder was very strange.

Add to that her self portrayed persona on the internet and all the stories about her sexcapades and you get the picture.

Was this cold blooded murder? Probably not, but a heat of the moment and under the influence thing.

Was there some doubt? Yes, but then again many murder cases leave shreds of doubt, rarely something is 100% certain. To me this was a clear case and apparently to the jury as well. That said, she'll get her appeal and most likely the sentence reduced.
