Lung, what style is KL wonton mee? The "Shi yao" Cantonese type? I've sampled a few here. So, so. Char siew is the deal & of course how well they cook the noodles (which is often 80-90%, I like 100%) plus the wonton which is secondary to me. I learnt from a cook that after boiling the noodles, u must do a quick soak in cool water/soup to let them have the "Q Q" chewy bite. I miss the good one in Old Airport Rd hawker centre. There are two stalls, one with Q number system but of late the cooks are replaced by PRC & standard went down. The other one is the usual Joo Chiat's FeiFei. As far as I know, these style of wonton mee is only available in Singapore & Malaysia as China & HK does not mix em. Wonton mee is just wonton+mee while char siew mee does away with the wanton. I remembered that I had wonton mee @ a roadside stall in Guangxi in 1992 & it was just Singapore 25 cents. It is now S$4 in their foodcourts in Dalian
