Only if the f430 is stock. Those tailpipes look bigger than standard. No telling what else was done to it. Taz Terry Phillips
I think the blue 430 has a ECU tune and exhaust if i'm not mistaken. Everyone says the ECU tune does nothing, but maybe there are a few HP's left untapped. In the 3rd run the standard 430 seems to clearly pull the 16M.
I remember reading about that F430 on this forum some time ago. It is NOT stock. I forgot what upgrades were done to the car, but I do remember the owner (member on this forum) saying that the engine is heavily modified. Maybe a chip was put in? But yeah, I just wanted to clarify that the F430 is NOT stock. BTW, I'd take the 16M...hands down. -G.B.
If you look at some of the other videos that ZIP22 has, one of the videos say that the modification he did to the F430 are Fabspeed headers, Fabspeed racing cats, Fabspeed tips/valves, Fabspeed Scuderia Intake, BMC Hi Flo filters, EVOMSit flash programming.
Fact is: can get nearly as much hp as Scud/16m have from an F430 with only a couple of minor mods--don't need an ECU reflash or exotic values, etc. Just change the airboxes/filters to carbon Scud models, add a new, more free flowing exhaust system and you'll touch 505 hp. And of course, not every "engine" is exactly the same--generally, 5% from standard was alsways considered legal under EU/manufacturer's rules, so without doing anything, a stock F430 could conceivably have as much as 25 more (as could a 16m). Weight then becomes, as always, the equalizer--the 16m is light for a cab but how close is it to an F430 coupe w/carbon brakes. Then add the passenger in the 16m and the dynamics would would clearly change what you might expect as the outcome. Both cars do look great however--but there's something about TDF...
I had an 09' F430 Spider. Great car loved it. I was sceptical about the 16m, since on paper the HP difference was not significant. After I took deliver of my 16M I was blown away with how much better the car was from my F430 Spider. The sound and performance are just incredible. I have a hard time thinking thinking I would replace the 16m with the 458 this coming year. I am sure I will keep the 16m for a very long time.
I've seen the car- it's got a trick exhaust bypass system and is heavily modified. I believe Sharkwerks did the mods.
Way too much to lose ... your car and finances for sure. Your life or that of another possibly. Just can't do that.
Maybe the 16M only has 1000 miles on it and is still factory tight? Maybe the driver was in a higher gear on each occasion? Maybe he just wasn't as committed?
While there were too many cars for my comfort...they only did short bursts and there was no weaving in and out of traffic.
Agreed. It wasn't as bad as what I expected after reading those offended comments above. That blue 430 convincingly pulled much harder than the scud each time.
Didn't have time to adequately list specs. Stupid video! That said, my 16M blows away my old 07' F430 Spider in acceleration, handling, sound, fun factor....every metric that matters to me. I'm always amazed at those who believe that a couple of simple mods on a F430 will result in Scud-like performance. How do simple mods (ECU upgrade, exhaust, etc.) address things such as the fact that the Scud F1-SuperFast2 shifts twice as fast as an F430? Furthermore, the Scud, by virtue of its E-Diff and F1-Trac combination (versus the F430's traditional traction and stability control system) has 40% greater acceleration when exiting corners (as per Ferrari). Bottom line...there's much more to the Scud's performance advantage than straight-line acceleration. Tim
