I'm not clear on the rule either, but from what the announcers said during that review makes me think the clock should stop when the ball hits the ground or is caught out of bounds by someone.

The ball crossed the boundary with probably 3 seconds then hit the ground with 1. I'm tired of seeing so many seconds run off the clock after a play is really over so I think it was proper for Texas to have that 1 second. May seem cheap but everyone knows they were going to run 1 more play and try for the FG anyway. They didn't luck into it, they just almost lucked out of it.

McCoy said the O-line rushed out, and that he was taking his time because he knew that they had enough time. And then he just rolled out immediately to throw it to a receiver or throw it away.
So maybe there was just confusion within the offense on what they were doing and it made McCoy look worse than he was. I still would have called a timeout when there were about 10 seconds left. That's the thing about football. Anyone can call a TO...neither McCoy nor the coaches did.

    SOMEBODY PINCH ME!

Still hasn't completely sunk in that the Tide is headed to Pasadena -- at least I got a month to let it soak!

How about the return-on-investment of Nick Saban? Hard to argue with results -- three years and into the national title game with a very young squad, low penalties and turnovers, and that hit-em-in-you-mouth Alabama style.

    Alabama-Florida draws record TV rating
By Jon Solomon -- The Birmingham News
    December 06, 2009, 4:13PM

Alabama won its prize on the field. CBS won its prize thanks to television sets across the country.

CBS said the Alabama-Florida game produced the highest overnight rating in SEC Championship Game history, drawing an 11.8. That's up 13 percent from last year's 10.4 overnight rating for Alabama-Florida in 2008. The final ratings will come later this week.

The 11.8 is the best rating ever in the metered markets for the SEC Championship Game since its debut in 1992. It's the highest-rated regular season college football game on CBS since Miami-Notre Dame produced a 14.6 in 1989.

Florida-Alabama was the highest-rated non-bowl bowl game on any network since Ohio State-Michigan drew a 13.7 in 2006 with a national championship game berth on the line.

Yes; Bama must watch the Texas A&M game film to see how to score 39 points against the Longhorns...and must watch the Nebraska game film to see how to hold the Horns to 13 points (in a game with an extra second!).

Footnote: Alabama has never beaten the Longhorns. That streak ends now.

2 votes for Texas, haha! Polls are so silly, when there is a ~97% consensus for 'Bama being #1, what's the point in voting for Texas (by 2 pollsters), lmfao.

FWIW, I agree that 'Bama is numero-uno in the land w/o a doubt for now! :p

End of the regular season. Unranked. USC.

    WTF-BBQ ?!?

I knew they weren't a top-5 team, let alone a top-10 team even before the season began or even after their quick & successful start (before the lopsided losses). Just top-25, barely top-15 material then, I thought. But, now for them not to anywhere close to being ranked @ the end of the season (only 8 votes), I never would've imagined that if someone told me such would be the case back in late August. Damn. Voters say, STFU & GTFO to Carroll & company in Troy! :D

(I still think they are a rankable top-25 team, perhaps just inside 25, but still ranked... perhaps 24/25)

Well they did get 8 votes, which puts them at 33. I don't know where I would put them. Pretty much what you said. 25 maybe.

Wow...been awhile since Ole Miss and Northwestern had more votes than SC. Kinda tells you what the voters think of the Pac-10 vs. the SEC & Big 10, huh?

I just noted that & edited my previous post. 8 votes, lawlz! Pathetic. Carroll is probably crying, haha. . .

Hmm, I think it's more of hyperbole for 'SC... when they're winning, they're all-time/all-universe/all-whatever; but, when they're losing, they're lower than those relative to them in terms of records. Both ends of the spectrum aren't right, IMVHO. . .

Going w/ a true frosh' @ QB was beyond a mistake for 'SC, regardless of his potential, intangibles, and capabilities/talents. If Meyer went w/ Tebow over Leak, they would've never won the BCS national championship, let alone SEC (despite Tebow's inherent skills, ability, and greatness). . .

And an avg. experienced/upperclassman starter trumps any/all true frosh', especially when the team you're on is the highlight marker circles game for every team that season. . .

Leak was a returning starter so not quite apples-to-apples, but I understand your point.

Got all the teams right, but the wrong order. Iowa, Boise State, and Cincy need to switch places since BSU will play TCU (unfair that they can't prove themselves to BCS conference teams) and Iowa is in the Orange with Cincy in the Sugar.

TCU should have played Florida. Texas has no business playing Alabama. Boise should be playing Cincy. Oh well!

Texas lost to Nebraska. Sad that they were given a free play to "win" instead. It will, of course, make for great Heisman fodder...imagine all of the bodies dragged off of the field after an enraged Bama Defense decides to show Heisman winner Colt McCoy that Ingram was the real candidate.

Ugh... two non-BCS over'achievers against eachother, the winner proves just what? Right.

Had TCU garnered more respect earlier in the season w/ the polls (coaches, AP, etc'), I could've seen them sitting in a position to leap over Texas into the BCS NCG by virtue of the computers/polls.

Texas whaffed w/ A&M last week, and then almost whiffed w/ Nebraska last night, so pollsters/computers haven't been kind to them as of late.

A better positioned TCU would've likely trumped them. Especially w/ the Big-12 not having the banner year that most would've thought, a potential encore from last season (ie. Texas Tech, OSU, and OU all having lackluster seasons, and Missouri & Kansas underachieving as well).

It's great that Texas is in the BCS NCG, but TCU was quite deserving as well. I think anything short of a victory against Florida by TCU would be meh in the eyes of many; but of-course something we won't even have the pleasure of seeing the very potential of. Then again, I wonder if SEC folk would just then say, "... well, Florida didn't care & didn't show up because they weren't playing for the BCS NCG" (ala' what Bama supporters said last year after losing to Utah in the Sugar Bowl)... :D

TCU got screwed. Won't play Alabama...won't play Florida. Would have lost to both, but could have made a game against Florida.

Bama played a great 2008 season up until the 4th quarter versus Florida, then took the rest of the season off due to internal turmoil. For 2009, that mistake was not and won't be repeated.

Texas has a pretty-boy Heisman candidate and draws great TV ratings. TCU could only trump those cards with a win.

Florida won't lose their bowl game!

You forgot that I said if I missed it I would be the first to apologize. If you will look back to yesterdays post you will see I stood up accepted I was wrong. Or did you choose to bypass the recognition that I missed it and gave Alabama all the credit for a great game? Before you attack me please go back and see if I followed through with what I said I would do..........

Did you -really- expect the BCS conferences to allow anything else?

This haves vs. have-nots system is nonsense, and smells.
