+1 Many used imports are under-declared or there'll be no margins for the seller. U need to be a little bit more careful working out the figures on depreciation figures vs an agent's car. Don't be tempted by the low entry price. Difference can be as much or more than S$50K which to be frank is not much @ 50% & remember that your parf expires in 08 & not 2012/3! Warranty is grey now since there's a change in the old guard plus a few workshops out there are doing after sales warranty/svc now. Run a PPI if necessary & check the clutch wear plus any over-revs if it's recorded. Afterall, this is over half-a-million. Good luck hunting
i.e. a fruitcake ... 1st lesson in gun handling - NEVER point a gun at anyone. it does NOT matter whether it is loaded or not. accidents happen with "empty" guns.
Thanks guys for the insight. Didn't quite get the Parf expiry bit. Thought 2nd hand cars can claim parf nowadays. With warranty, I was under the impression that it was an international warranty. Thanks again for the help.
Do you know there is a Four Season Branch in KL too? Used to be as good as the London branch, but quality went down a little....
mkt value of 430 may also b a little unstable as worldwide many 430 owners will b looking to upgrade their 430s for 458s (tho the good thing is that there is long waiting list for 458 so people wont offload so soon)
Anytime mate. U see, when LTA introduced the import used car scheme, owners can claim back the parf value but it is based on the orig. registered date of wherever it was from plus ten years. Whoever brings in a car under this scheme must register it within 3yrs or lose the parf value! Therefore, the 430 that you're looking @ is say from Mar 2008 & they'll give u a new COE now which is good for another 10years. However, your parf eligibilty expires on Mar 2018 while you can still use the car till Dec 2012. Great! BUT the bad part is the value of your car is worth only the body of S$100K+/- from April 2018 onwards. A little mind boggling. In short, you save $ outfront from buying a 2nd hand local but u still get screwed @ the end. Long ago, you can never claim the parf on your used import. Another thing to consider is a lot of people export their cars here by the 5th year because some countries have restrictions on taking in RHD after 5 yrs old & mileage for export must be less than 50K km. Therefore, don't be too happy buying a brand new 06 manufacture & 09 registered car. U have a big problem when you're going to sell your car later. Anyway, to me. Buying a Ferrari or sports car involves the heart & soul. Too much maths in the equation & u might as well take public transport but then again be prepared to get screwed like me when u sell them That is one other issue to consider. I would say a real dip for 430 will be in 12-18months time. But I don't think I want to wait that long to enjoy the Vrooom Vrooom vroom
Check out the garage of this famous man. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138944272&postcount=4131 U see what I see? Yes, Jim's the guy who commissioned the Enzo P4. Great guy with a big heart.
bro, you always show the most patience and give the most useful advice; reminds me of when i first joined the forum. you were also extremely helpful and thoughtful then. proud to be your friend
Jim is an awesome individual, and it's doubly fantastic that a living legend like him is on our forum.
That sounded rather harsh, just for an aftermarket exhaust upgrade. This should come under Lesson on Customer Development 101 on how not to offend your customers....
One upside to this however is if you are looking to keep the car long term and renew the COE, at which time PARF becomes irrelevant. So you really need to decide if the car is going to become a keeper or not.... every sports car I have owned thus far has had the COE renewed as I have bought it relatively late in its age and as such for me its an absolute dollar thing. BUT most people dont like to see the loss of the PARF and hence scrap their cars...
every car i own is a keeper ... until it gets sold! i am not being facetious; it's just a genuine belief i start out with. i am probably not alone in this regard. i think the parf thing is largely psychological as well. the impending plunge in paper value makes a number of people want to get out. guess in an ideal world, we all have second (or third) homes in another jurisdiction where we can export our cars to after "scrapping" our cars. dream on...
