Anyone used them and your thoughts on them?
It seems that if you want good road/track tyres with something like the original profile they are probably the best bet. I had them on a SWB (replica on a Lusso chassis) and they were very good, actually better than the Dunlop racing tyres the car came with but those were probably quite old and hard. I've just scrubbed in a set of Michelin TB15s on my '575 GTO' and they are on a different level of grip altogether. Problem on some cars is that the tyres then look too small in the arches and reduce ground clearance, but in the this case I'm very happy I didn't go for the Avons.
I had TB15s on my Porsche 914/6 and the level of grip is quite impressive. I agree that they don't look right on certain classic Ferraris (my 330GTC, which has XWXs, for one). Jack
The Avon CR6 ZZ is my favorite track tire on the 212. Have used a number of other race tires and the Avons worked best given how my car is set up. Good selection of sizes and reasonably priced. Very sticky when hot and not bad in the rain either. Only problem is they only last one or two race weekends. If you plan on using them on the street you may not like them as they will pick up rocks and road debris and throw it into the wheel well! I usually run Vredestein Sprint Classics for the street.
