Not 100% sure but, I think it had to do with him talking about Ferrparts and the "New Ferrari site thread Closed WTF". Why for sure I don't know? You'll have to ask the moderator that banned him.
I would guess it could have been this statement: "FerrParts has an extensive assortment of shims if I need to purchase a size I dont already have at a reasonable price. Actually, they were cheaper than anyone else I called." Oh well. . .
The offending post(s) might well have been deleted or it could have been PM activity that did it. Without moderator-level access to moderated posts, it's difficult to speculate on what might have been said or what exists on the forum that may have triggered it. All the best, Andrew.
I am devastated, this was my favorite thread. Mackb really contributed to this site, unlike guys like me who just B.S. I hope he is able to return soon and does not turn away. Dave
What we may ALL be unaware of are any PMs or Emails that were sent out... There doesn't appear to be any antisocial behavior in that speciic thread. Just sayin' .... If the Ferrparts thread was the reason, that does seem to be a bit over-moderated IMHO. Mike in Kuwait
I just lurk here and was attracted by this outstanding thread, so I'm sure I'm missing something, but isn't sharing information about where to get parts for Ferraris a good thing? Skip Montanaro
There are rules on this forum and sponsors that pay to have their name on this site, therefore we are encouraged to support those sponsors by purchasing from them....when somebody recommends a non-sponsor for parts that a sponsor can provide, that is unfair to the paying sponsor and I believe is against the rules but not 100% certain...it is certainly frowned upon though
Wow.... three years plus lurking? Welcome to F-Chat, Skip! I, too, think there was (maybe) a conflict between those sponsored companies that provide parts, and Ferrparts... Mike in Kuwait
A post in the Silver Subscribed area indicates that it's only a temporary ban and, hopefully, that means this thread will be updated in time. All the best, Andrew.
Commenting where one got a good price on a part hardly qualifies as a recommendation. It's just a fellow owner reporting his experience with his car. It has nothing to do with fairness. This is "chat" afterall. I certainly hope the ban is not for life, and that it was for something other than the statement about FerrParts.
I agree and am not sure what actually happened...perhaps I worded it wrong, I was just trying to repeat what I had read in the past when something like this happened.
Several months (if not years ago) someone posted where we could buy the little shocks that hold the engine cover up for as low as $15 compared to the outrageous Ferrari original price, even though Ricambi sells the original... was that "illegal" or against the house rules as well? Oh well, I didn't see the original posts, so what do I know Kai
Whelp...last activity was 11/28 and the user profile still indicates "Banned". We now know it was for more than 1 week.
