4rePhil, I noticed you are not in the US, so let me try to explain...Danica is a girl who races cars...no wait...Danica is a cute girl who trys to race cars. In the US that makes her a great driver...one of the best...oh wait, she's marketable too, or... was... until she started pissing and moaning, so she is now the best driver ever...in the world... ... sarcasm for those who didn't catch that.
Thanks BigWilly, I know the score on Danica, with some thinking she's sex on legs whilst others can't stand the sight of her. I'm also aware that there's some who say she only got the drives she got due to the publicity she generates and others who say that while it may of helped, she still has to drive the cars.Yes she's a whiney, stroppy little madam when she wants to be, but thats the same as alot of male drivers to be fair. But can you imagine the reaction if she turns out to be a natural at Nascar and starts winning races?. Boy is there gonna be some Coors on the floor if that happens!.
This is going to be interesting. She's driven in a series where they are all pretty polite. Now she gets to mix it up with some of racing's tough guys. I'm betting that she doesn't do very well at first, but gets better in a couple of years. She has some talent in the vehicle, whether it's enough to make it there is another story. Art
A NASCAR is very different from an Indy car I think she'll find it a lot more difficult to toss a 4000# car around vs a 1300# car
This is probably the only driver that skirt busch can kick ass. She might have a tough time with Tony Stewart
don't worry, she will be well protected by the france family. this is big for nascar and she may even find her cars producing a bit more hp than the others! ryan newman may give her a special welcome. he seems to enjoy being part of the hazing crew. pcb
Read this today on the Autosport site: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80490 I see she say's that she's going to be extremely respectful towards her rivals on the track but is looking forward to being able to go wheel to wheel racing with them. I bet her rivals will be queueing up to do a bit of bumping, grinding and rubbing from behind!. And I don't think it'll be much different on track either!. . (Too obvious I know but it had to be done!)
+1000 amazing what CAN be done in a spec series, especially now with the CrapOfToday car. They can't afford for her to NOT qualify/run top 10-15. Agree, they'll move her up as quick as possible before the lack of speed shows and hurts ratings. We are talking about a fan base that votes a driver with a bad record most popular over a 4 TIME champion! Hoping for 5 in a row and another hendrick 1,2,3.
Should be interesting to see how Milka Duno fares as well! With Chaves backing the France family won't want her to fail either I think.
Yeah, but her "peaks" aren't that big. Her only win was even gifted to her. Helio Castratedjuevo's team told him to slow down and let her by. It was just a PR stunt for the IRL. And that's just what she is, a PR stunt.
Again we keep coming back to these sort of statements, but over the course of the season gone, she still finished 5th, ahead of alot of other, supposedly non "PR stunt" drivers. I can only assume that every driver who finished below Danica is rated as being a s**t driver and that there are only 4 decent drivers in the series (those that could beat a "PR stunt"). Like her or loathe her, if she wasn't any good at all, she wouldn't be finishing in the top 10 every year since 2007 (7th in 2007, 6th in 2008 and 5th in 2009) and she wouldn't still be in the series. PR value will only get you so far in any series. At the end of the day, If you can't deliver results, no amount of PR value will save you, it's not what racing teams are about. (By the way, based on her series history, it looks like she's due to win it in 2013! )
