Ok, I shouldn't really be posting again here because I just did in my home thread. Nevermend. I've been reluctant to post due to the time its taking to get the car done. But after walking into the paint shop today I have to post and share with my fellow 308 owners. In the flesh its beautiful.

As its been a while just a quick update. The seat covers have been restored, the drivers sunvisor repaired and the wheels have been prepared for painting.

So anywany pics as everyone loves them. :)

I've decided to try and keep some originality to the car and in doing so have gone down the path of restoring the seat covers as oppossed to replacing them. This involves getting the covers re-coloured. This also ensures the leather grain is of the period. I'm really impressed how this is going. I was really confussed about the colour. The first pic is the original drivers seat and you can see it almost looks grey. It had discoloured a lot. When the back was taken off the seat the original colour was eveident and as such the leather was re dyed.

Again like the wheels (which I forgot to mention in my previous post haven't been painted yet, it was just a sealant) these pics of the seats are work in progress. I will post pics of the finished seats next week. They are ready to collect but I just haven't had time to go and get them.

How rude of me, Sorry Mick, I was just going back reading my thread and I noticed I hadn't answered your question. When it goes back for reassembly, I'll ask the question and hopefully get some snaps for you, although I suspect its a bit late.

    No worries mate,
What I'm seeing so far in the pics is impressive! Can you let us know how the wheels were done, and which colour(code) was used on those?
Looking beautiful, also can't believe the leather on the seats is the original!

Will do mate, I pick the wheels up next week so I will ask for the colour code. I was lucky a friend of mine (360C) who had an original (unused) wheel, loaned it to me for colour matching.

The bottom photo of the leather isn't a good shot, it was taken in a dark section of the factory so the flash was used which makes it look tan. I am however very impressed how they have bought them back. I'm picking the seats up tomorrow so will take some snaps over the weekend in good light and post them.

I am pretty sure they are 1979's Alan, not that it matters :)

It took me 3 years to obtain seven 1976 spec Campagnalos for my car- rare as hens teeth.

Not sure on that Scott???? My car came off the production on 15 Feb 1978. I can't however confirm that these wheels are from the car but I can confirm as I have copies of the original sales documents stating "wide wheels" were purchased, being the 7 1/2".

So I've only got the carpets to do in the interior. Got the seats, and head liner back today. Picked the door trims up last week. May need to tickle up the door handles and dash when its back together but at this stage all appears to be well. I'm happy I didn't go down the path of replacing the seat covers which was my original plan. The door pockets actually had a few scratches and nicks in the vinyl. They were able to weld it and re colour it. Looks brand new.

I'm very happy with how the seats have come up and its good to know that the leather is original albeit restored. The leather after 3-4 weeks of continual application of a conditioner really feels nice and soft. The guys doing the work have recommended I continue to apply this conditioner for quite some time. They smell great too. :D My little bloke tried them out and judging by his smile I'd say he's happy as well. I too had a test sit and they felt good. I feel like a kid myself pretending to hold a steering wheel. I think I'm going nuts. :D

The drivers sunvisor was ripped where the pop is which clicks into the roof liner so had to replaced and dyed to match the existing material.

Anyway, here's a heap of pics. Sorry for the overload of photos recently, they've been building up for quite some time.

    Came out VERY nice!

I actually bought a sunvisor on a blister card, not long after the Factory dumped the parts to the UK....mine was torn at the snap just as yours....

I don't use the snaps for that reason!

    Brett,

I'm really enjoying this thread! The pictures have been great. What brand/type of dye and conditioner was used to restore your seats.

    Thanks...
