How would you react to the news? I would be very sad to see MS back in F1 with anyone but Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I could give two craps less. Personally I don't like him, but it would be huge for the sport when/if he returns.
I would love to see him come back and race. It would be absolutely epic! Unfortunately, I think the odds of it happening are very slim.
People have to realize that MS doesn't equal Ferrari. Before Ferrari he drove for two other teams in F1 and won championships without Ferrari. MS is a great driver, but Ferrari is bigger than any driver. I'll be gladly watching Alonso defeat MS. Again.
I think it would be disappointing to watch him struggle in the Benz; like when Jordan came back with the Wizards
Even though it's sad to see him return with another team, it'll be great to see him back in the sport. If anything, it should, hopefully make everyone raise their game, because if Michael comes back anywhere near what he was when he left, watch out. Have to remember also, he did start with Mercedes.Full circle I guess.I say we kidnap Massa for the season ( ala Fangio ) and sign him with Ferrari.
I'm up for that: If MS signs with Merc I bet a case of beer of your choice that Alonso will end up with more WDC points than MS. While I think there is no question that Alonso beats MS hands down (he did it already 2 years in a row), this might still be interesting as I'm pretty sure the Mercedes car and engine will be better than the Ferrari. So there is some risk for me in this I'd say.
Cool, I'm a Newcastle fan. If I remember correctly you like Stella. Now all we need is for Schumi to race...
+1 on both counts. Junglistluder loves him, but I don't really care for the guy but it would be a boon if he returned. My guess is with the injuries he has sustained there is about a 1.7% chance he comes back to race, but never say never. MB
hey.... he's a great driver. There will be quite a few great drivers in the 2010 grid. Any race with multiple great drivers is a great race to watch..... it's about the driving and competition, not the colors they may be wearing... that's the "superficial loyalty" some "RACE" fans wear. I enjoy watching a good race more than I root for my favorite team and in a race, may the best man prevail. It's the racer who drives the car to victory, with the support of his team. The best car and team in the world can't win unless there is some one of competence at the steering wheel. I love Ferrari, and would hope my favorite team is in the winners circle more often than not, but I would rather watch a good battle to get there. It was fun watching MS win his 7, but everyone has to admit... some of his wins where he simply "walked away" from the competition, were simply boring races to watch. JD
Living near Chicago Illinois USA I witnessed the greatest NBA player in Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls win six NBA Championships. Then he retired. Then he came out of retirement. Then he re-retired. Then he came out of retirement again. Then he played for another team. Then he retired. My memories of Michael Schumacher are both the good and the bad. But he made me fall in love with F1. I still get up early every other Sunday to watch the races. And i still bleed only Ferrari red. Michael Schumacher has nothing left to prove... IMHO
Changing your tune a bit Andreas, what ever happened to "MS will never race again", now it's an "If MS signs with Merc"
Because, the injury MS has was never life threatening. It was just silly for him to come back in the F60, such a crappy car, with testing ban still on...etc...it would have made him look useless. Plus, the car was very physical to drive, and he still was recovering from his neck injury. Now, however, there's rumours that he's been training non-stop, bought a new neck support machine. New season, he could just come out for 1 last fling. But, as much as i would love for MS to come back, i don't see that happening. Merc is just banking this as cheap publicity. I think it's Nico and Nick all signed sealed and delivered. Off topic, but for the first time since 1999, i'm actually not looking forward for the new season. With so much bickering last season, i actually don't miss F1 for the first time in 10 years.
I would be happy so see him return, a bit sad that he won't be with Ferrari, but mostly so because that stupid Spaniard will be driving there instead of him. But it won't happen.
I'd love to see him drive for Mercedes. I called in at the Brawn Factory yesterday as I was passing and the signs all still say Brawn. There is no sign of the Mercedes re-branding yet. There is some building work going on which looks like it could be a new office block on the site. I was travelling for work so didn't stay around too long. I don't think Schumacher will ever race in F1 again, but I'd love it if he did.
Can't see the point of getting to fired up about it, after last time. If it happens it happens. I would be happy to see him back in any team.
+1. I saw him at his peak, continuing to drive now is pointless. Voted I wouldn't care if he returned, he can tarnish his status if he wants. Nico would outqualify him routinely.
I think he could still be extremely competitive if he returned in a good car, without a doubt. But I'd rather see him in a Ferrari if he did, there is so much glory associated with that combo. At first I believed his neck was the main thing holding him back from returning in the F60, but looking back at what a dog it was, I think he stepped back to avoid looking like a fool. Can't blame him. :io
I´m afraid that it could be another Michael Jordan. I don´t want to see him again in a F1, Ferrari or whatever.
I was at the game where MJ had his unreal flu. He was as sick as a dog...he had his highest scoring game of the years as I recall. I also used to hang out at the Sports Bar called "Danny's" in Northefield whee he hanged out after the games. We'll never see anyone in Basketbal the likes if him in out lifetime! JD
