I stumbled upon a company who is selling the rights to use images of the P4/5 (amongst other cars) for advertising etc.

    http://www.kimballstock.com/results.asp?txtkeys1=P4/5

Looks like that's where they got the photo for the cover of that calendar. It seems like they would have to get someone's permission in order to sell the them. They are not really selling an artistic photograph so much as they are selling the image of the car. I could be way off base though... I am no lawyer.

I saw those pics on kimballstock a while back. If those guys took a pic of the p4/5 at a car show, would they be allowed to sell them?

As I understand it as artwork yes but not to promote a commercial activity or imply endorsement thereof.

    First thing in the morning.

Interesting to Learn that my friends at Pininfarina really had nothing to do with P 4/5...

Is it bad if I think that car is kind of uhh.... odd looking? All the contrasting colors, extra gills and overly dramatic swoops seem contrived and a little overdone, especially the rear haunches. P4/5 seems to have real purpose and function for its form.

Still, I always think it's pretty cool when someone has the finances/influence to get a one-off Ferrari built!

I hear ya, Jim. As I said, I think it's awesome when someone gets to have their own personal dream custom built for them. Just that if it were my dream, it would come out a little different... guess that's what makes the world go 'round! =)

It does look like the 330LMB #4381SA rebody. Would have been nicer if it had speciale wheels.

    Hey Jim,

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news. I stumbled across a Ferrari calendar in Dobbies Garden Centre and the January car is your Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina.

The publisher of the calendar is Otter House Ltd and it's part of "the great big calendar collection" (square wall calendars) line. If you have a look at their online catalogue, it's product number 15309 on those pages:

Here's a direct link to their online presence for this calendar:

Calendar images (see January), they claim a copyright for the P4/5 image as "(c) www.infocado.co.uk":

The information on the back of the calendar is:

    Designed and Produced by
    Infocado
    Cambridgeshire 0845 6439 164
For our full range of calendars please
    go to www.infocado.co.uk

The information contained in this calendar is may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. All liability of Infocado Ltd howsoever arising for any such inaccuracies or errors is expressly excluded to the fullest extent by law. This is a comprehensive limitation of liability that applies to all damages of any kind, including (without limitation) compensatory, direct, indirect, or consequential damages, loss, of data, income or profit, loss of or damage to property and claims of third parties.

Here's their direct contact information from their site:

And there appears to be a section where you can report the unauthorised use of an image: http://www.infocado.co.uk/photographers_artists/usage_report.cfm

In their terms and conditions, they attempt to absolve themselves of responsibility for the use of images saying that it's the photographer's responsibility to check the status for image rights: http://www.infocado.co.uk/photographers_artists/terms.cfm

I told Dobbie's Garden Centre (Milngavie Branch, pronounced 'Mull Guy') that I suspected the image rights to be 'stolen' from Jim Glickenhaus. They temporarily removed the calendars from the shelves, and want to know whether you have a problem with this product on sale through them or whether you'll just pursue the company distributing the calendars. So it might be good to let them know one way or the other or they'll probably just put the calendars back out again:

The country code for the UK if dialling internationally is 44. Replace the 0 with that. ;)

    Good luck, Jim. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Hi

That was shot at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which was a public event and as it's simply using a photograph on a Calender not using an image of P 4/5 to endorse/promote a commercial venture it's probably a legal use assuming they licenced the photograph.

    Thanks For Posting it!

    Jim -

Saw you posted some photos of the P4/5's reveal in 2006 a few pages back. Seems like such a long time ago!

Not sure if I ever posted or sent you these images - but here is a gallery of the shots I took that day / weekend.

I've also left the gallery open so that you can download the original high-res shots in case you want any of them...

They are hidden on the under side of the door scoop. Like Dino Competizione's they are flush to the surface.

The door locks with the remote on the key fob.

    OK, no problem Jim. :)

I let Dobbies know they can put the calendars back out. I felt a bit bad for causing them to take their stock off the shelves for a few days so I bought a few candles from them (I probably wouldn't have done otherwise)... my fiancée will like them anyway.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Its replicating features from a historical car, the parts that stick out as unusual are mirrored and that being the case, i think it looks good, colour or not. Its unique and different and does a good job on its predecessor imo
