    guys, help me out!!

took delivery of my f430 scuderia in November. absolutely gorgeous! it's a rosso F1 2007 colour. same as the 2007 F1 car colour and on the scuderia catalogue. i took it for a weekend drive a week later at run-in speed (120-130km/h)and the stone chips were so bad it was beyond believe! the front bumper is full of white spots (base coat) as well as the front bonnets.

is this a common problem for scuds around the world? to make matters worst, no paint shop will do the touch up as they think they wont be able to match the colour! this is frustrating.

but apart from the paint issue, this car is an awesome car to drive!

    comments and advise greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Congrats on the new Scud and welcome to FerrariChat. :):)

Mate, it is ONLY paint and any paintshop worth their high-teeth should be able to match it. :D:D

Take it to a good shop and have them re-spray the front bar and bonnet. :):)

Every car gets stone chips mate. You must have been following the car in front of you too closely. Be careful next time. ;);)

Please post some pics of your car and fill out your profile. :):)

Here is what happens when to follow too closely the car in front of you at speeds over 200 km/h. ;);)

That is a 360 Challenge Stradale that used to be owned by an Australian Fchatter. He had the front end resprayed and new windscreen fitted after those pics were taken and he sold the car not long after that. :):)

Save the pics on your computer and zoom in to see the damage. ;);)

I would think you could give the paint code to your dealer and they could order the exact paint for you. Check with any parts manager and ask if they can get you the paint from your VIN number with the codes. From there, any good body shop can fix, tape and spray.

KBS 11-Welcome, and congrats on your new "Family Member." Suggest you look into a clear bra for your Scud after you get things squared away. I'm not sure where you are located, but if it is on the East Coast, pm me and I will give you a contact around Richmond, Va. where this can be done-and done well for a very reasonable price. I had my car done by Concours Detailing, and the quality was superb.

3M makes a KILLER product called Clearbra, and I can attest that it is worth every cent. I have it all the way up my hood. I don't worry about picking up debris because, quite frankly, it doesn't leave a mark.

    Clear bra is key.

I had the front bumper done, the entire hood, rocker panels and rear bumper as well.
I live down a gravel road, so the rocker panels and rear bumper were critical since it collects a lot of dust on it and I am constantly wiping it off and didn't want to just scratch the hell out of the paint with all the constant rub-downs she gets....

2+ years living on a gravel road and not one paint scratch/chip!

+1 I have both the Ferrari and the Lamborghini heavily wrapped. Full hood, full fenders, bumper, rocker panels, mirrors, a-pillars, all forward facing scoop inlets and behind the rear wheels.

If the plastic gets torn... just replace it, no paint.
    ...

Rock chips are a badge of honor for drving your car - would never, ever clear bra any of my cars - from my 599 to my Scuderia, to my 300SL Gullwing, 57 Speedster, etc. Ain't happening - if I respray every once in a while, fine. No matter how great the clear bra job is, I can still see the clear bra. And that (subjectively) bothers me more than any chip or road rash - My Gullwing and Speedster were done painted by a guy who has won a few "Best Paint" awards at Pebble - and when I was in the shop that does Ralph Lauren's cars his '58 TR was there to get a repaint because of the "Road Rash" on the nose -

    But......... your mileage may vary.......

I learned a lesson with my first 2007 Ferrari F430 Red it loves pebbles or anything on the road in the way. When I sold that car that was the first and only point of hammering the price down from the buyer. On my new Scud I had them Clear Bra the entire front w/mirrors.I think I paid $2500 worth every penny. Its usually something you should do before you have pits and nicks. If you do.I would leave it alone till you get rid of it.

thanks for the comments and advise. at least i can sleep knowing that this is normal. i'll wait for the paint to arrive from Italy and get it all fixed. I visited Paint Shield n they specialize in Clear Bra applications. looks quite neat. Will go for that.

anyways.. here's a pic of my scud when delivered.

Ps. by the way.. I'm based in Malaysia.
