There are a bunch of F1 tranny 430's out there in the low 130's so you might get away with lowballin' 'em a bit for the manual which will definitely affect resale if that's in the plans. I'd start in the mid 120's at least.

John- Looks like a very nice car and I love the Daytonas with black inserts.

Plus, according to the CarFax, this is a one-off SOHC 430. That has to be worth something.

It is a very early car if that matters. All the popular colors and options. I'd estimate the MSRP was around 187K. Be aware that the exhaust manifolds are likely to fail down the line. You may want to call a dealer for a replacement estimate. I would offer 120 and see what happens. Ultimately the sticks will be worth more than paddles.

SCC shows prices for cars sold that were not actually sold. The earlier red/tan '05 430 they show as sold for 134k on that thread was never sold by SCC, they dropped ti several times to 119k, finally let it go at auction for 105k.

Also they show that 'infamous' yellow CS twice in the thread as being sold for 169k, and to my knowledge it is still for sale. Just saying, take that previous 'sale' with a grain of salt. This is probably a 120k car, tops, and realistically more like 110-115k.

If an F430 doesn't have 10k on it and it was built before June of 07, you will replace the exhaust manifolds, and they aren't covered under warranty. Figure about 10 - 12k for that repair.

Since this is a 6 speed, and about 5% of the 430s have a six speed, I suspect they will be worth more than the F1s before too long. If you can get it for less, that would be great, but quite a few of us won't buy the automatic, and that will raise the value of the manual.

Why would the exhaust manifolds need replacing?

The early ones are prone to failure. Mine went at 12K just before my warranty ended and were replaced with a new design. I don't know if all of them are failing. It would be interesting to know what percentage of 430's reaching 20K still have the originals. I've heard replacement prices ranging from 4-12K so I would definitely get a real estimate from a dealer. The rest is heresay. It may also be true that CA requires an 8 year warranty on them.

    Dave

PS: the car that was auctioned for 105K was then sold by a dealer for around 115K and had a lot more miles than this IIRC.

I say it brings "Buy it now" or very close to it.

Very nice car but it does not have carbon brakes which also may effect resale. But it sure does have a 6speed gear box. There was a black 430 last week on ebay with the carbon brakes and 6speed gear box the last of the 6speeds If I have the green it would have been mine.

Very few cars were ordered with cc brakes. I can't imagine why. They were only a 15K option and replacements carry eye watering price tags. Making them standard allowed Ferrari to up the price a lot and make bigger profits, especially on future parts sales.

Chas, Ray- Affirmative. SOHC is single overhead cam. We all know this 430 has DOHCs so the Carfax has a typo.

I will learn one of these times about obtuse jokes with acronyms.

I have an 05 six speed and the exhaust manifolds went at 23,000 miles. Nice thing was that they were covered under the 8yr/50,000 emissions warranty here in NY. If you do go through with the purchase look into replacing the reverse bushing. Its plastic and it WILL fail. The piece is only $70 dollars and what ever it cost for labor or DIY. There is a good thread here on it. Good Luck, the car is a beauty!

unless you plan on tracking the car at a place where you really need great brakes, an absolute waste of money, and a huge increase in the cost to maintain it. If you track the car, expect to replace the disks, and that will set you back over 15k each and every time you need to do that. A better option, is to upgrade with the metal Brembos and replace them as needed, for about 1/3 the price of carbon.

Art- You are correct on the CCM brakes, great for the street and will probably last the life of the car if driven normally. Take them on the track and expect to pay a fortune for replacement parts. The wear data on the SD3 comes from an algorithm based on severity of brake use, not a direct measurement of disc wear. A real profit center following Ferrari track days.

Sure wish I could figure out how to fit those steel 599 brakes in FerrariAds. The 5 X 114 mm bolt pattern vs our 5 X 108 mm rules that out at a reasonable cost, however.

Actually, all you need is someone to make you centers, and bolt them to the new centers. You could get someone to CNC the center, and probably could make money on the deal, since you could offer them as a kit. Or sell the idea, and software to someone who would do that.
