All of a sudden, every new page view is preceded by a sales pitch from the magazine, "The Economist". Is this happening to us non-payers only? If so, it's total BS...

It's also jamming my browser, so I can't scroll down. (Mac OS 10.5 Safari)

    What gives???

Glad it was not just me,I have been jamming up as well w/ windows Vista.

Rob and I have been exchanging e-mails about it. I'm sure he will take care of it.

I don't mind the ads, this is his business and the economist is a good publication. But the browser freeze problem kinda sucks.

How is that total BS? Subscribers pay so we don't have to view ads (and other extras), seems pretty straightforward to me.

I'm not getting any pop up ads, but every once in a while, my browser freezes and I am unable to scroll up or down; I have to refresh the page. It only happens on f-chat.

I have firefox with all of my ad blockers in place and turned on, and I still get them. I guess it's time to subscribe...

$15 is quite a bargain to be SPAM FREE! :)

Now if only I could stop the phone from ringing (lately it seems every make-believe charity on Earth has my number).

I'm having the issue too, using a iMac. The problem for me is that if I start scrolling before the page is fully loaded and the add pops up, suddenly I can no longer scroll and the page is frozen where it is. Sometimes I can click the skip button on the ad and proceed normally, sometimes I can't.

It is BS when it freezes the page. I don't have a problem with the ads but when they make it where I can't either close them or navigate the page something is wrong. I'm sure you didn't subscribe just to free yourself from the ads.

BTW why would I change to Firefox just to view Ferrarichat. I'd rather find another forum.

I haven't had the problem, but I agree with you, if it freezes the page that is BS, like "Cornbread" :)D) said, he has emailed Rob about it, and Rob will sure fix this problem. I think you should just hold on a little while longer, and not find another forum :)

Sorry about the bug with the Economist ad. I tested on both IE 8 and Firefox with no problems before I released it. The ad has been turned off for now. The ad is only for non-subscribers, it should not be a pop-up - just appear within page and allow exit, and the ad should have only appeared once for each user.

I would appreciate those that had the problem report OS, Browser, and anything else that might have caused the problem. Thank you.

To respond to an earlier response--it's BS, even if we're not subscribed, because it didn't used to be this way. Now it is--feels like coercion to me...

I still may subscribe in the near future, but I'd rather it be of my own volition, and not to avoid new pesky pop-up ads...
