Well, the turn out was great, with 25 cars of very enthusiastic guys and gals itching to burn some rubber on the hallowed grounds of the Sepang F1 track.

A small group of us decided not to follow the main PCS convoy, and consisted of Doc Smmmmoooottthhh (Jackson Hartini), Rockstar (Chris Tan), Fabio (Ronnie), Ah Heng (Renny), Seb and myself.

Meeting on the Singapore side, we ended up taking another toilet break over at Esso just across the border where Rockstar decided to limber up for the drive ahead- see pics of his Jet Li impersonation- man he is so flexible... Smmooottthhhiiiieee just did a bend over type exercise.... showing off his awesome gluts maximus in the process....

Rockstar doing some sort of split....

Smoothie... bending over.... and Seb just constantly watching... hmmm

The drive up was a real pain in the you know where as there was traffic everywhere. And I mean everywhere! Think we drove a130-150kmh at most during the majority of the drive and took 4 freaking hours to reach KL.

Checked into our usual hotel around 6pm, had a quick freshen up then hit KLCC for some lovely Madam Kwans rendang.... this was followed with a beer... or two... then some sleep to get ready for Sepang. Sorry... no pics of us sleeping.... or drinking....

Next morning we head out for the 40 minute drive to Sepang. Doc Smmmoottthhh heads straight to the track as he has to give the safety briefing as the Motorsport Director for PCS.... and I unfortunately follow him by mistake rather than following the other boys to Petronas to fill our half empty tanks before attacking the track. Just meant less playtime for me, or a pesky intermission break to the petrol station mid way through the track...

Arriving at Sepang, we are greeted by a ridiculous diversion from the main entrance that leads us all the way around all the service lanes of the track, though this does give us an interesting view of the track. Just as I suggest to Smoothie that we drive on the grass and take the actual track to the pits (thank god we didn't as there were still some remnant guys from the previous session still on the track), an ambulance comes past and shows us the way.

As the rest of the participants arrive we are greeted by an array of water cooled cars and the loan air cooled beast of Adrian Anwar. It was wonderful seeing this work of art up close finally after so long of looking at it in the Pelican forum. Adrian managed to get some quality time getting to know his baby on Sepang, and it was awesome seeing it scream down the straight....

First outing, I bring Rockstar with me as my passenger, and he imparts his godly knowledge to me about my driving... mumbling something about me lacking balls I think. After that I drop the Rockstar back at the pits and go back out on the track.

Finally getting into the rhythm, I just cant commit to coming back to the pits. Around lap 4 or 5 I see Yuey burning up my butt just before turn 9.... I'm trying to overcook it into the corner upon seeing the beast eating the distance between me and him, and I end up majorly sideways and take a hard slide into the gravel on the exit of turn 9. Losing quite a bit of paint on the orange rims, and the right side of the RS... but at least I manage to make it back onto the track unassisted.

Some pics of the rims.... and I aint repainting them as I bet I am going to do a couple more excursions at some point in time.... any way.... scars are always cool me thinks...

Deciding against going back to the pits to check the car, I decide to continue lapping... spewing gravel for all my fellow trackies... no need to thank me guys.... Somewhere at this time the Hornet (bro Patrick) arrives with Kenny boy (Kenny's ride is getting the Techart treatment so no ride) and I spot them snapping photos at the exit to Turn 15.... Hornet... share the pics man!!!

I manage another 8 or so laps before the brain finally fades and on turn 11 I basically commit way to late to the corner, and too fast.... ploughing myself deep into the gravel. No luck this time. I am stuck. Waiting for the marshalls to come to my aid, Dennis goes by in his newly acquired 996 RSC, then Yuey in the cup car (middle finger up at me as he goes past... bless his soul... hahaha), and then finally Fabio who is giving Kenny Boy a ride. Fabster and Kenny decide to stop along turn 11 (obviously they weren't listening to Smoothie during the safety briefing hahahaha), and stop by to laugh at me buried to my crotch in gravel. Finally the marshalls arrive and they tell my dear companions to move along, which they do, laughing all the way to Fabster's car. Red lights and flags on, the tow truck finally arrives and pulls me out. Spilling all my gravel along the track, and having lost yet more paint on my orange rims, I finally decide to call it a day. And guess what. I was driving back to the pits with no helmet and no seat belt. Figured red lights were on so no cars would be coming aroung and I am crawling back to the pits spewing all my gravel onto the track for my fellow trackies to enjoy.

My driving day ends as my tank is empty anyway. Before I know it, Bro Yuey agrees to give me a ride in his Carrera Cup car (he has approval from Smoothie and Antoinette to use his cup car at the track day instead of his GT3).... man that thing is unbelievable, and his driving is pretty darn awesome too.... 2.13 times...all in a days work.... yawn... hahaha...

Yuey's track machine for the day...

    http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg97/harold996tt/DSC01407.jpg

But the joy continues as I manage to bag a ride in Kin's car and Smoothies car where I can pick yet more brains of the track stars there. By that time Rockstar has done his 2.28 time and has lent his car to Antoinette to try out his Hoosiers.

Day is finally done around 4.30pm and pics are taken of the group... but not before Declan loses his keys.... only to find them stuck in his centre console... hmmm... Yuey up to mischief probably.

Some pics of some of the group... others remained in the pits as they were leaking or doing some other weird mechanical type badness...

Oh yeah.... a pic of the GT2 that Hornet sold just before he left his previous joint.... was brought up by the new owner who is a really nice guy!!!

    http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg97/harold996tt/DSC01403.jpg

Finally, we head back to KL, where the evening is filled with an awesome Korean meal identified and ordered my Smoothie, and more drinking and merriment to laugh at all the days events. Again no pics of this part...

When I have more time, will fill you guys in on more of the track day. Meantime, enjoy...

good read Harold .. thanks for taking the time to write it. I'm looking fwd to my next track day now, whenever that may be!

btw .. I'm still trying to figure out how you can lose it on turn 9, altho I admit I've over cooked it many a time on turn 11 (but never beached it)

mate, look forward to you coming for the next one!! thanks for the comments. yeah overcooked it 3 times on turn 11 but always thinking it was ok so ended up being way too adventurous this time and beaching it.

reviewed the video i took of turn 9.... I overcooked it going in braking too late at entry then thinking I could take too much speed through it, understeered and tried to yank the wheel way too hard to bring it around and brake to get more weight on the front that then went into sudden oversteer that I couldn't correct.
