Been using a Rebel XTi for the last ~3 years and just recently upgraded to a 5D Mk II. Still having trouble getting used to the on/off toggle. It just seems like it's in a difficult place to reach when holding the camera with one hand, the Rebel was really easy to flip on/off with the switch up top. Is the location some pro photographer thing that I don't get? Do you just leave the camera on all the time and let it go to sleep when not in use?

Yeah, just leave it on, I read that turning it on and off uses more battery than just letting it sleep.

I agreed with Maranello's suggestion. Leave the switch on. In the menu, you set the sleep time (mine is at 2 minutes, I think), and it will wake up more-or-less instantly when you hit the shutter release button.

When I brought my 40D to Croatia, the only time I turned it off was when I got back to the hotel.
