Can they turn your 308 into 288GTO :)

Seriously, I was so crazy about the GTO when I was young that I thought of buying a 308 then rebody it but think the 288 has a longer body after the C pillar.

That said, wonder how did it snap up. Must have been a horrific experience for the occupants....

Jon, I did think of doing just that to the 308 but wouldn't it horrify the purists considering that there aren't many 308s around? But the 288's proportions are damn nice...macho like the 365/512BB.

Maybe it will be a future project!

    Hi.

Just, I have seen 275GTBs and they are very beautiful as well with a never ending nose. There was one at DK engineering belonging to the brothers who run the firm now. Also some amazing cars there like a Lancia Stratos.

275s asking for, I think, 200k pounds upwards. Sorry but no pics. Must bring camera everyway I go as HP cam in low light is crap!

Oh and BTW, there was also a road going LolaT70 at the shop. Had a bubble on the roof like a Zagato bodied car. Damn nice!

They made a road going version of the T70???? Sorry though, never really been my cip of tea....

For me, ultimate ride would be a 250SWB painted in the Stirling Moss blue with the white stripe across the front....

Yah, it was superb just to see that car. I reckon it was the nicest of all in that toyshop (we are all kids, right?) The engine bay was out of this world with those 12 polished, air stacks. Something that I very much miss in our modern engine bays with the covers.

Even the 365 engine bay is not as pretty as the 250 series!

Will hunt for 250SWB photos for you, Harold. Didn't know there were so many classic lovers here till I spoke to Tim in London.

I actually found the engine bays in those days to be absolute works of art and as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.... and the polished air stacks were always the crowning jewellery within those engines. Seeing the linkages and all also really added to the beauty of those engines.... nowadays who really cares what is under the hood unfortunately...

Yup, have been an avid follower of the classic Ferrari's pre 288GTO for many years... as well as the SL pre pagoda...

Mate, in terms of classics, Ferrari had everyone beat.... only the Miura really springs to mind for Lambo, and in terms of the Porsche's, well if you were into bathtubs then great... but as was so typical of the Germans the engine bays looked and sounded like old washing machines at best....

Today I am not so partial to Ferrari anymore.... the only guy with real artisan streaks and flair left is Pagani.... nothing else comes close for performance and looks, not even the mighty Veyron.... everything next to a Zonda is just a car.... the Zonda brings back the meaning of art on wheels....

Maybe only the Spyker seems unique.. but it does not have the same classic feel unfortunately....
