http://www.dealer.ferrari.com/millermotorcars/pre-owned/FERRARI/F430_Spider/Connecticut/15661490 Hello kind Ferrari drivers. I currently own a 997 Porsche C4S, which is my daily driver. I am looking to buy a convertible and am thinking a Ferrari might be more appropriate for its purposes (weekend joy rides) than a Turbo convertible. After pricing out a 2010 Turbo, I just realized that for the same price perhaps I am better off getting a Ferrari, my dream car. I see a 2008 CPO'd F430 at Miller Motor Cars of Greenwich. I would like your opinion pls. http://www.dealer.ferrari.com/millermotorcars/pre-owned/FERRARI/F430_Spider/Connecticut/15661490 thank you in advance. -Jay
There's very little to say here. The car is essentially new. I have a 2008 and those that have driven earlier models will say the 2008/9 were the best. This is a 6 speed, which is rare for a later model car. 6 speeds were about 10 grand cheaper to buy but have about the same resale value as F-1's now. The only options I can see that were not ordered with this car are the carbon fibre interior and dash, and the Challenge grill, and Challenge wheels. All F430's through the years are very similar except for some options and Carbon brakes being standard in 2008. My opinion... if you like the car, buy it. The F430 is an outstanding machine.
Sorry I don't see the point of posting this without some evidence. The OP asked us for our opinion of the car, not it's price. If you're going to throw stones at the price, then you need to support it with apples-to-apples examples. Anything can be had at any price. If the OP wants a black late model 6 speed, he's going to have to pay for it or look a long time for another. If he wants to find a car at a specific price, then that's a different story. I don't understand why we have to be such kill-joys.
Thanks for the opportunity to give some real world evidence. I am going to be selling my 2007 spider six speed with 2K miles and lots of options this spring. My local F dealer tells me my car is a 165-170K car in the spring when the spider market gets better. I have dealt with the F dealer in the past and I trust him. If a 2007 spider is 165-170K, how much do you add for one model year. Most would say 10K to max 15K. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Aloha, Al
What color is your car? I would guess there is some value-add to CPO... These cars are beautiful and I need to have one! But, I will try to be an adult and spend some quality time doing due-diligence. I cannot thank all of you enough for bothering to add your 2cents on this.
Mine is Red with Sabbia interior. Resale wise, I think Red and Black are equal value wise. Now it depends on what color you want, but years ago when I joined this forum, I learned a lot about F values and bought a 355 spider and a 360 spider used. This forum gave me a great insight into what I should pay. I am not trying to be a kill joy, I just think F buyers need to know what the real world prices are and then they can make an intelligent decision.
i was at miller a few days ago and saw the car... very impressive clean car. fyi... the red '07 spider with all the upgrades was resprayed on the right rear quarter
I am assuming you are not talking about my car. It is in Sun Valley, Idaho. It's never been to the Big Apple.
Does your car have CC Brakes? That's a 20 grand option. 08's had them standard (albeit by just raising the price that amount). Also, 08's had a required additional year of warranty which added another 6 grand to the price. Again, you have to compare apples to apples. Just saying something is a crazy price is not enough. It MAY BE, but your personal experience on one car is not enough to justify a trend. We end up everytime with this silly discussion about how cheap someone has "heard" a car is. It's just a bloody car. If you like it and can afford it, then negotiate your best price, buy it, and enjoy it. Isn't that the entire point?
Coincidence. I cancelled my deposit on a 2010 TT Cab when I spec'd one out and realized it was over 180K with my option choices. And it would still sound like a Turbo. For those $$$ I could almost slide in to a low mileage higly optioned no story 430 Spider which I bought from Miller last April. Nice fellows to deal with and from my limited experience so far (I had them order and install the spare tire) the service dept is first class.
i'm not talking about your car unless your car is being sold at miller motors for 210,000.00 and has around 800 miles on it, then yes, i'm talking about your car
Sorry, but I have agree with Al that is this is too high a asking price for this car...if money is no object for the buyer, then by all means go for it...but I think a someone like giving a heads up to potential buyer the that price might be too high is a service to the buyer ..... I have one friend who recently bought an F1 red tan, loaded 2k mile 06 spider for $158k and another acquaintance bought a similarly equiped 07 charcoal gray for $169k, this one with 3k miles...
Just stating the facts...best to you and your family for the holidays and 2010....I take it you havent had any big snow falls in Maui yet...SS
Left Maui last night- 75 and breezy. Today Boise 37 and rainy, tomorrow Sun Valley and tons of new snow. I'm having a White Christmas- hohohohoho Al
A bit biased, but the f-car over the 911 anyday. May not be as fast, may not be able to retract the top at 30 mph, but the overall experience is unequivocal. Obviously the price is negotiable, and I havent kept up with the market, so I have no opinion in that regard.
It really depends on what you do with the car. The 430 is a better car. It's a huge advantage in over all appeal and styling. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Porsche fan with 6 of them but TT Porsche's will drop faster in value from new if you buy a new one. You will also be bored in the TT after a while. I've owned a few TT Porsche's and they just don't give you the awe factor of driving a Ferrari. If you are going to buy the car and be afraid to drive it and park it places buy the Porsche. The Porsche will cost you much less to own. Both good cars and you will be fine in either. Whatever you do look around there are lots of deals to be had. Yes I agree with Bdelp if the car is an 08 with Carbon Ceramics it will be worth more than a 07 without by at least 20k. The 4th year warranty makes the car good through 2012 for all the expensive crap and that's pretty big. That's 2 years longer than the 07's. This would also explain the rapid drop of the 06's and 05's. 06's are now mostly out of warranty. They can't even come close to comparing in price point. My only suggestion for the OP is to make sure you LOVE that interior. That color will make it harder to sell in the long run. It should also make it a touch cheaper than any black /black right now to help you negotiate a possible lower price. That 6 speed will also take a chunk of potential buyers away from it down the road as so many people will soon realize just how much faster the F1's are for driving. There is still the HardCore 6 speed fans out there but as the new cars show they just aren't as sought after and will be worth less. Lapeter I hope you are correct about some new snow I'm heading to my place in Sun Valley with the kids just after christmas.
The choice between Ferrari or Porsche will always be a persisting debate as long as both continue to produce great cars. I like the visceral driving experience of the 430 and the styling, but let's face it: the Porsche is the more reliable, better built, more practical car. It's just not as quirky and you don't feel bad about driving it everywhere or everyday. Look how many high mileage Turbos there are vs. high mileage 430's or even 360's. The new Turbo, even with its pseudo dry sump motor, will be extremely fast, especially with the dynamic engine mounts and the new torque vectoring technology. The 430 simply will not be able to keep up with this car, especially in inclement weather, where the combination of PDK, traction control, torque vectoring, etc. will give it Nissan GT-R type grip. But like many people here will say, owning a Ferrari is so much more than just outright speed. The ones who have the means typically have one of each, because they really are such different cars, each built under different ethos and vision, both spectacular in their own right. That being said, a friend of mine is selling his 2008 F430 Spider in Bianco Fuji and it is just pure sex. I suspect someone is going to own this thing for a great price!
Just ot set the record straight, 2007 spiders came with the four year warranty. It was shown on the MSRP as about $5,600 and you could not delete it from the order. At least that how it was on my 2007 spider.
Well put, the 911 TT has always been a very fast and reliable car, but also has lacks passion and can almost be mundane in everyday driving....the porsche will be invisible to others on the road, which can good or bad depending on what you want...driving the 430 spider will be an event each time you drive it, the porsche will be just a drive...
From what I can see it does have the Carbon Fiber dash. It does not have the Carbon Fiber steering wheel and CF lower cabin (only top piece is CF on the console). Just making sure for the OP.
What I meant was the CF "upper Driving zone", which included the instruments and the steering wheel. The CF dash was a no cost option between CF and Aluminum. If I remember correctly, there were CF options for upper driving zone, lower driving zone, rear Challenge grill, and engine compartment. From what I see, this car has none of these.
