Yep, that's about right. Of course that number is not inclusive of all the "storied" cars that keep getting shuffled between dealers after sitting for months and no dice.
I don't agree. It took 6-8 months for the FoS car to sell with 1400 miles. The number of insanely good cars in that price range will cut the number of interested buyers way down. Plus most of the True Ferrari Collectors like the damn red ones. Who in the Hell knows why but that just seems to be the case. It would sell fast priced at 160k with owner taking less. Assuming it's clean STokpro how long has this black one been around? Haven't you shown it to me a few times?
I believe it was August '03 and CS #133305. Same car featured in this article: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/tuners/112_0404_2004_ferrari_stradale_porsche_gt3/index.html Not sure about end run date/month, but I'll find out.
No, this one just came available on Dec. 2nd. Last time I saw it was Oct. 30, 2004 on the showroom floor at FoOC. It sat there like a dead duck along with the gorgeous Rosso Dino and Pino Verde CS's. Yep, that's you and Byron! I think I pulled those photos off your PC after mine crashed. LOL! BTW, I've got a pic of Byron sittin' in that black Strad; that was the ONE he wanted. I better not tell him him!
The highest offer I got on my CS which has been listed forever, is $160K about 6 months ago and $155K about a month ago. Those are the only two offers I've gotten. I turned down both. I don't know if that makes the car worth more than the offers or just that. What I do know for sure is that the CS prices are dipping pretty fast and like someone above stated, most people that really want a CS already has one (or more). So most people e mailing me are bargain hunting tire kickers. But who can blame them? It's a buyers market and it will remain so for a long time. It's definitely a great time for exotics fans on the buying end right now. Gallardos, DB9s, Vanquishes 360s (spiders and modenas) in the 80s. LP640s and 430s (spiders and cps) in the 100-170s. 993TT's in the 50s. I dont see a bottom in the exotics market. -Peter Oh
Peter, well said. $160k isn't far off from what you're asking so surprised you didn't take the money and run.
I'd agree with Peter as well. Today I saw for the first time a 2008 GT2 on Ebay for 135k buy it now or make and offer below. That's a 215k car barely 6 months ago...Nothing like 40% right off the top of that car in 180 days. Plus it's at a dealer so the guy probably got 115k trade for it or less. I'm just glad with these prices I've got just about everything I'd like. i'm with Stokpro why didn't you take the cash? Those are high offers when most are trading well below 150k
As an available buyer / lurker here I thought I'd chime in. The quote above captures my thoughts about the CS pretty well. I think the car is absolutely gorgeous, and I'd be proud to own one if I already had one and I probably wouldnt sell it b/c it looks so good and it is a relatively low production car. But I am also a bit of a speed junkie and I know that if I bought a CS now, I'd really be pining (pine-ing? spelling?) for a scuderia and more torque. With no-issue relatively low mile CS's at 140 - 160ish I think the $ gap to where a scuderia will be in a few months (spring/summer) is too narrow. And while the CS was a relatively fast car in 2004, the performance delta between it and a Scuderia is too wide for me to ignore.
i wouldn't hold my breathe that the Scuderia to CS price gap will change from the 100k it is now. When the 458 comes out and Ferrari still holds a 325k entry price the Scud will maintain it's higher value. The Scud is faster than the 458 around the tracks and is an awesome car so people will soon see the value and by then the Mandatory Purchased Scuderia's sitting in dealerships will be sold and there will be a higher demand at that time
understood. I was responding to a comment someone made that perhaps all the very interested CS buyers already have one, and the newcomers will opt for something with more performance (i think the suggestion was a 430). In my case, speed is more important than budget, and I think the performance delta (Scud vs CS) justifies the price delta. I'm just waiting till spring / summer to see where prices land.
Whichever you buy you will love. Both great cars. Just don't wait too long if the numbers rebound a little you might save 15 grand or more by getting it in the dead of winter depending on the car
Here's a lil story...couple weeks ago me and my CS end up in showroom...Im ooogling over a beautiful Red Scud!! already picture myself in it!! till the reality of what it would cost to get into it would be.... here's some quick numbers: sell my CS to friend who was with me at dealership (and wants my CS BADLY!!!) for 140k by new (used) scud....255k Sales Tax (calif) 23k registration...3k total of $281,000!!! SO THATS $141,000.00 MORE THAN MY STRADALE And here is the funny part...there is no way i drive my CS any faster or slower than i would drive the SCUD.. Yes the SCUD is gorgeous..and has more power than the CS...but lets say you drive your CS 110mph down the freeway (hypothetical) would you drive the SCUD 140mph? how fast is fast enough!! dont get me wrong i love the SCUD...and would love one in my garage... BUT HEARING PEOPLE SAY THEY WONT BUY A CS CUZ THE SCUD IS FASTER...OR NAAA WONT BY A SCUD CUZ THE 458 IS QUICKER AROUND FIORANO!! IS QUITE AMUSING. I bet 99% of any Ferrari life is never driven at no where near its limit...
couldn't you run the CS you are selling through the dealership to get the Sales Tax credit? In Washington we can. It's not world peace but it is 14k.....just my 2 cents 1st 458 is slower around Fiorano than the Scud. I agree most Ferrari's aren't driven near their potential. It comes down to a preference only and how much cash do you want sitting in your garage. That's it. Either car is cool.
I'd drive it faster on the track (which is where I want to take advantage of the performance delta) and i am a slowpoke on the highway But you raise very good points...and the two are very nice cars. I've flip-flopped on my "answer" a couple of times, it'll probably happen again between now and spring... and then some emotional event will happen and I'll choose.
Teej, Have you driven them both (scud and CS)? Some people actually prefer the feel and look of the CS and, like markenkidz said, it is plenty fast for the street. If you are reaching the limits of its performance on the street, you are probably behaving badly. And with the money you save, you can get a real track car that you can beat the snot out of without a care.
