PICS Tomorrow. Stay tuned. We'll see if we can get some video for the site. It sounds SIIIICK!!! I am so happy I could drive it all day and night. Mesoscale followed me home tonight and said it was kicking some flames out during the overruns in 4th gear.

    :p:p:p :D :D :D

    I am a happy man!

Tune in tomorrow evening for some pics and hopefully some sounds.

Ha! My car just got out of the muffler shop today as well equipped with a new Magnaflow. Wasn't there to hear the christening though. I will have to wait until next week to see, er I mean hear, the car.

Needless to say I am hoping, well actually anxiously awaiting, some sounds clips as it sounds like we both went with the exact same setup. Word of mouth and sticking a cell phone to an exhaust only works so well. I ended up going without any type of resonator as well.

Deal! It will be interesting to hear the difference between a 2V Weber car and a QV with the same Magnaflow.

    Congrats!!!

I am really curious about how it compares to my Tubi. Maybe ask Mesoscale to compare since he heard mine just a couple weeks ago.

    Post sound clips soon!!!

Here are a few links to my car video on YouTube, I just uploaded them:

This is the magnaflow 14" with Vibrant Tips. No CATS AT ALL. Headers flow into the muffler...:p:p:p

There you have it boys. Let me know what you think. Another Fchatter said it kind of sounds like a 355 to him, and I guess he is right, but as I mentioned to him when you hear it live it has a lower/deeper note.

Anyway, if anyone out there wants one, they are a little less expensive than the Capristo's I think (Hahahahahahaha)

    Patrick-

Its really hard to pick between the better of two 'rights' (tubi vs. magnaflow). They both sound awesome. Like you, I have a tubi on my 355 and I swear by them. It's just that Matt's car was so quiet with the OEM muffler and cats that it lacked the signature F-car sound. Needless to say, this new muffler definately has changed things.

With your Tubi I liked we could have a civilized conversation and there wasn't a need to really yell over the muffler (except of course when you stood on the throttle). I haven't ridden in the car with Matt yet, but I imagine it will be a similiar experience with a slightly different pitch.

Awesome stuff! I would be extremely satisfied if this is how my car ultimately ended up sounding like.

Did you notice any change in SITPHP (seat in the pants horse power)?

    Magnaflow 14" is 14386 (2.5 in and 2.5 out - 2 in and 2 out)

    Vibrant tips are here.... http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1021_1034_1059&products_id=99

As far as seat of the pants HP, hard to tell, probably more in my mind because it sounds so much better...plus I need to get my car to Competizione for a once over so the boys can really batten down the hatches as it were...but trust me, for a 308, it can hold it's own. :p

Wow, that sounds superb. Is it loud all the time or only when you really get on the throttle?
Ideally I'd like an exhaust that sounds like yours but only under vigorous acceleration so I could drive it without pissing off the neighbor's if I wanted to. Congrats though that's one of the best sounding 308s I've ever heard (well youtube heard anyway but I bet it's even better in person). Nice job.

Blaine, thanks for the kind words...it sounds reasonable at idle, not too loud but kind of a low throaty burble, and even at speed at around 100kph on the highway (trying to help out you CDN guys who work in "Clicks" :p) it is reasonable to hold a conversation in the cockpit. When you get on the throttle though, it will raise some ire with the neighbors.

I realized as I listened to the youtube shots, that to get the actual effect, it helps to listen to it with headphones turned up quite a bit. It sounds ok on speakers with the youtube take, but the realisitic sounds come with that listening setup.

P.S. I wanted mine to be loud. Heck, driving a Ferrari that sounds like a Toyota Camry just doesn't make sense to me. Part of what makes a Ferrari such a visceral experience is the engine note.

Sounds great, Matt. I'm really happy that you're diggin' your QV. Your car sounds a lot like my 328 with its Larini set-up; I set off car alarms just idling through a parking lot, and you can definitely hear me coming if I'm on the throttle. Of course, this is as it should be ;-)

    My best,

    Scott

I want to do one of these Magnaflow systems, who's a good source for the flanges.

    Mean :)

Dreaming of doing this to my US '85 QV, but would also like to switch to the Euro valence at the same time.

Any pics of the underside after installation?

    congrats!

LOL, Wazie - I actually set off some car alarms (not on purpose) the other day leaving the garage where it is stored...oh well, that is what should be happening! :p

Nurgurgringer, will try and get some photos of the underside, but it may be a while as we are under 2 feet of snow right now...by the way, I did the 'Ring in a rented VW GTI Turbo Diesel when I was over there and it is a TON of fun. The Green Hell Aye!

    Exactly!

As much as i appreciate these threads it seems every single one is with a Euro car. Just leaves you wondering what it would look like on a USA model or if it'd fit in the diaper even.

Been waiting two and a half years for a thread where someone does this with the USA setup.

Sounds great though..nice work and enjoy!
