Absolutely love the story! It's a shame that kids like that give those of us with Japanese cars a bad image, it's not all a Fast & Furious crowd.

Overly vindictive and abuse of authority. Kid would have learned his lesson with one ticket. Or just with a flash of the badge and a telling off. Hope someone comes down on each of you, hard, next time. See how you like it. 50 in a 35...crime of the century or what. Peeling out? Damn, you should execute him right there on the spot. You didn't need to race him, but a spirited drive on empty roads would have brought a smile to both of your faces, unless you use your car to pose.

But hey, you made a kid cry. What a stud you must be.

And yeah, **** the cops. Last I heard, freedom of speech still existed.

Guess you've never pulled dead kids out of burned out hulks from street races, huh?

Um, no, I haven't. Cos it's not my job. Guess you are a cop and you do it all the time and it makes you feel like a big hero?

Not every kid is going to end up dead in a burnt out hulk. Nor should cops use that as the reason to come down hard on some kid who loves his car and loves driving and just needs to be told to slow down and not act like an idiot.

If someone steps on your toes, do you pull out your gun and shoot them too?

Street racing is dangerous and can have fatal consequences. Nobody is denying that.
Acting like ****** is annoying and people who do it should be taught a lesson. Nobody is denying that either.

Taking it up to a whole different level with multiple citations, getting the car towed, hundreds if not thousands in fines, possible loss of license...dick move. You guys really think this was appropriate?

He made a boy cry and towed his car and cost him thousands of dollars and possibly made him lose his license. Ha. Ha.

    Good story!! :D

I guess the kid won't be doing that sort of stuff again. ;)

It's that sort of behaviour that makes insurance so difficult to afford for sane teenage drivers. :(

    All the best,
    Andrew.

If you can only debate by changing the subject or going to absurdity, then yes, you must be 15.

Aren't you the one who changed the subject by suddenly asking about my age?
Aren't you the one who is resorting to insults like STFU?
Posting stupid cartoons and then wondering if I am 15? How very grown-up.

Kid was ******. Cop was a bigger dick. End of story. What, exactly, do you want to debate?

Let me put it to you this way... flashing the badge would certainly make the kid think twice for a while. However, do you think he would have gone home and told his parents about his little encounter with the police? Or do you think the parents had any inkling what the kid was up to during his evenings?

The parents of this type of individual usually always think that their son enjoys a fast car responsibly and that the sort of nutter to go street racing isn't their kid. Multiple citations and a towed car ensure that the parents are brought into the loop - the kid can't avoid them finding out and the parents can get the situation out of control.

And is it fair on the law-abiding users of the road that someone can drive dangerously around you (i.e. the bumper riding), and shower you in verbal abuse to try to force you to race? Cool heads can dismiss it, but others might be more provoked or, conversely, extremely intimidated.

This was probably the only way to make sure that this behaviour was seriously addressed and that the warning was not shrugged off before a life-changing catastrophe occurred.

The kid was ******. The cop did what he had to do, and just happened to enjoy telling the story afterwards - you have to admit it is a little amusing that of all the BMWs he could have challenged he picked that one. Frankly, that kid was either going to luckily survive that phase of his life or kill himself and possibly others. What this has done is improve the kid's chances of reaching maturity, and although he doesn't know it yet - he was done a favour by the police officer.

Maturity isn't reached by everyone when they're 18, you know.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

No, you launched into it by asking, "If someone steps on your toes, do you pull out your gun and shoot them too?" Real mature.....

If you debate like a child, you will be though of as one.

One of the most common things a grieving father says is at a funeral in these cases is, "I did not think my boy could be that stupid." 99% of parents would absolutely love to know if their kids are doing something as dumb as that guy was so they can stop it! The rest wish they had known so they could have stopped it.

Some good points, but it's not a given that this kid was going to wreck his car or kill himself or anyone else. Statistically speaking, odds of that happening are very, very low, no matter how much the cop wants us to pat him on the back for having prevented such a tragedy.
Indeed. What do you have to say about the maturity of someone who prances around in Star Wars outfits and posts profanity-laced cards on the internet? ;-)

The kid had plenty of opportunities to just leave the situation. He followed the cop off the freeway and then began taunting him.

The kid deserved what he got and if I was the kids parent I would have thanked the cop for doing what he did. The kid still won't learn his leason from this unless his parents kick his cocky ass. Regardless, he's still probably going to think he's the ****.

I have learned in my few years on this rock that those who go around calling random people bit333s tend to be the biggest bit333s of all; theory proven by the crying about finals lol.

He should of got an ass kicking a long with the other rewards he received.

Um, not quite. I was merely giving an example of an extreme reaction in support of my position that this cop's reaction was over the top. So, entirely on topic and relevant. Do you even think before you start typing?
If you type like a retard (your instead of you're, though instead of thought), perhaps you should attend remedial classes instead of surfing the web. ;-)
Oh really? Is there a survey to prove this assertion? I have never heard of a father refer to his kid that way at a funeral, and I have been to a few. I think you are just making it up. If not, please cite some credible sources.

I do agree that most parents would like to know what their kids are up to. The point of contention is, can this only be done by imposing thousands of dollars in fines, jeopardizing the kid's license, and towing his car? Seems like a completely over the top way to teach a lesson that can be taught simply with a fine or a telling off, and a call to the parents.

Now go find another card to post. Make sure it has words like pwn, lolz, FTW, epic, etc. That way you and the peanut gallery can all feel like you have won this "debate." ;-)

Is that not what the cop did? He said it was about $400, not thousands, and a call to the parents, not jail.

And there is no way to compare what this officer did with shooting anyone for stepping on your feet. (And if you are going to debate spelling and grammar, you should edit some of your posts, mr pot.)

I'm going to let him slide on that one. His profile says he is from Cyprus and English is probably his second or third language...

I'm glad the kid got what he got. He had multiple chances to drop the crap and drive away. Instead he kept on this BMW and taunting him, using obscenities, another ticket he should have gotten. He BEGGED for each and every citation he got.

That kid deserved what he got. You dont go around insulting people and playing all tough just because your dad bought you a nice car.
