That's great Sandy;-) I didn't know Boxers had such bright lights in the headliner!!!

One more celeb - Morley Safer from 60 Minutes at least WAS a Ferraristi back in the late 80s. I did max track events with him in his silver 308GTSi. He used to have a shot of an F40 on his wall that was "in the frame" when he was doing interviews from his office.

Speaking of Morley Saffer, i was at our clubs fall outing last month and met a guy with a (i believe) a silver 83 GTSI QV and he told me he inherited it when his father passed. He said he really couldn't afford to keep the car and his wife was after him to sell it,when i asked him about the history of the car he said his father had bought the car in Conneticut from Morley Saffer! I took some pics at the event and if i have one i'll post it. FWIW, he said he was looking for $32-35k for the car.Unfortunately, i don't have any contact info but i'm sure the president of our club does. Small world!

I can't say for sure. But by the time the 512 came out, Ferrari was too old to legally drive a Ferrari on public roads in Italy, per Italian law. He drove a Fiat -- at least, according to a Fiat commercial from that time frame (remember, Fiat had a controlling interest in Ferrari street cars by then).

Goodyear ran a series of commercials in the latter part of the 80's stating, "every Ferrari 328 (or Testarossa, etc.) sold in America comes on Goodyear tires. Why? Because Mr. Ferrari wants it that way." Well, actually probably because Goodyear supplied their F1 tires. They were entertaining commercials -- I recorded at least 3 versions and have them on dvd now, somewhere. You see a 328 or TR driving along a windy road, in the case of the street cars; the car stops along the side of the road or in front of his house, the door opens, a foot steps out, and the camera shifts to show Ferrari standing by the car. But you don't see him driving the cars.

There is no such law in Italy. You could be 110 years old, and if you pass the regular license check-ups, you can drive what you want.

    Safer's QV was 58787.

Bill, that's a great story about meeting the guy who owns/owned Safer's car. I would love to know where the car is now considering it hasn't appeared on eBay or anywhere else for sale since July, 2006.
