Today in my 360 the "check engine light" came on. I used my OBD II scanner and the scanner came back with a "no errors" report, but the light is still on. Curious if this has happened to anyone else?

Sounds like your OBD needs an OBD. I would shut everything down and start all over. If it still gets no reading, try another reader. Many autoparts stores have them for loan.

Yeah - it is very strange. The OBD reader is able to grab all sorts of data from the car so it definitely is communicating...there is a mode on the reader where I can do a "state inspection review" and it even comes back with a "MIL Status - OFF", thinking the malfunction indicator light is not illuminated...strange.

Rumor has it you can only scan 1 side of the engine with a generic OBD reader... You need Ferraris $$$$$$ reader to see both sides. So the problem is on the side you cant read most likely..

I have not heard of that before. I would test it on another OBD and if it zilched out on you I'd take it to the dealer for a reading.

Unless you're in the witness protection program, fill out your profile so we know where you are etc. If you're in the DFW area I'd be happy to let you use mine.

That happenEd to me couple days ago. I push the gas and had to brake in a very strong way. The brakes felt very hard but no abs light just the check engine light came up. When I got home I switch off all the system current from the hood and wait one day. The light just turns off. Every time that light comes on I just do the same. My car is running with test pipes and no light.

I bought an OBD2 reader when I got my 360 for a CEL issue. It read no codes. Turns out the OBD2 only reads one bank of cylinders. You need an SDII to look at the other bank, which run about $18,000 on Ebay. Or go to your local shop or dealer, which should have one.

Some OBD2 scanners seem to be better than others. I bought one that runs through the USB port on my computer. Maybe the handlheld units are better.

Mine does the same, but worked out you have to hit the scan button again after the first no error diagnosis. Also try with the engine running. Andrew.

I did check the gas cap - that was my initial thought too....I have not tried diagnosis with the engine running....I will give that a shot tonight and see if it works! I have my fallback of a dealer appointment next Tuesday, so, sometime between now and then the mystery *should* be solved and I will post!

Ok - having the engine running while doing the OBD diagnostic did the trick - error code P0116 "Engine Coolant Temp Ckt Rng/Perform"

Now I just need to understand what the exact error is.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to get it to read!

If anyone has specific information related to this error code, I would appreciate the input...I will begin my "forum search" now...

Glad the engine running tip worked for you, too.
As for the code, this might help..

Really? I just bought a PC OBD2 reader and noticed the same on my 550 (only 1 bank) until I then noticed that there appears to be 2 ports the reader can talk to. I switched to the other port and the other bank came up.

Maybe some OBD2 readers only read from one of the ports?

Worth a check before someone goes off and spends $18k on eBay vs $79... ;-)

Using a BlueDriver OBDII Scan Tool with BlueDriver iPhone app...works great on 2000 360. Car needs to be running to capture scan.
