That's the nice thing about the Phaeton. It's very understated and I'm not afraid to take it anywhere - no one will mess with it - unlike the rest of my stable.

I'm pretty sure that's what VW was aiming for. A world class vehicle that doesn't draw attention to itself everywhere you go. Wasn't it part of the "Low Ego Emissions" campaign they had?

The glass factory is simply amazing. And a W12 Phaeton is one of the best deals ever on a luxo sedan, unless you have a tiny penis and a fragile ego then you simply must have a star or a propellor on your car.

Im sorry but thats just as childish as to say that people drive exotics to compensate blablabla.

A VW is very different to drive than a BMW or a MB. And if i remember correctly, the thing weighs more than a Cayenne ( Weight lb (kg) : 5194 lbs | 2356 kg )...Some people like to have fun no matter what car they are driving..try taking a corner fast with that boat.

If i needed a luxury sedan, i wouldnt consider it. No matter how good the deal is. Id rather buy a used 7 Series or a 4P.

That's cool. More of them for me. I used to have a 7 series, and the Phaeton is light years better than the 7 series. You can't compare a hand-built flagship car built from a clean sheet of paper to a mass-produced BMW yuppiemobile. A better comparison would be with the Phaeton's brother the Bentley Continental. Never heard anyone complain about that car's cornering.

A Phaeton is a car for someone who likes to keep their clothing labels on the inside.

Phaeton handles very well, actually, for its size. It has adjustable air suspension so you can firm it way up or get a limo ride. Built like a tank. Quietest cabin I've ever been in. And still gets around 24 mpg on the highway.

How ironic to hear that statement coming from the driver of a ... Lamborghini.

    Well said Andreas!

SKNKWRX has an ego, obviously bolstered by what he drives, that most of us are not akin. Owning a Lambo finally made him feel like a 'Man!' Unfortunately, all it does is make him a 'smeckle!' ;)

saw my first Porsche Panamerica "in the wild" today
white, tan, woman in her 60s driving it.

I just don't understand that car. I get it that it is a great performer, well balanced, but looks like an ugly, big toe.... and an expensive big toe at that!

The looks doesn't bother me and the dynamics of that thing are extremely appealing.
Thought for a second about getting one for my next daily driver.
My wife cut that short and said she would never get in it,said it was an abomination ,not a Porsche.

Did anybody see the Panamera commercials they run on TV?

It was a very cool partly aerial shot of all the Porsches driving in the desert. Actually symbolizing the family tree of evolution. All the great Porsches were there like the Kurzheck and 959 etc. And all that wonderful pedigree ends in the abomination of the Panamera?

I just wonder whether Porsches top managers didn't see the irony in that commercial: It just can't be that the outcome of so many years of building great road cars and racing pedigree is this 4 door POS. WHATWERETHEYTHINKING!!!!

Great spotting, but how sad. Somebody was overly optimistic in these conditions. :(
