    So, I've search a few times on google and read up, I tried Capture NX2, but it won't install. I've also tried REAjpeg PRO, and the files convert, but I cannot open them.

    So, can anyone help me, I know there are a few Nikon users on here. How do I convert them to .jpgs.

    No, I didn't.

    A friend and I were just messing around, taking videos and photos of his 335i, we had both a Canon XTi and a D40x, but the D40x files are the ones we can't change into .jpg.

    Try Picasa or Irfanview. Both free.

    If you have Photoshop or Photoshop elements 5,6,7 you can get the Camera Raw plug in from Adobe that will allow you to open and edit NEF files and save them in JPG format.
