Thanks Joe! Unfortunately the racehorses practicing in the AM don't react well to a parading bull, haha... My German's weak but my wife can translate. Will send it to her.
My mother tongue is Dutch which is a bit similar to German. Ill give it a try. Taken by the horns: You know the story about the Miura which was named after the battle of the Toreador with the Miura bulls. No fear, this book does not write about long-known stories, reason why its extolled as a "Bible" for Miura fans. Nice studio recording, archive material which was believed to be lost, detail sketches of early designs and that by a real Afficionados this mix is correct.
Olivier: I would do so but unfortunately my life affords me the time for just one forum so I do not participate anywhere else but FChat.
Sure I can try... since (swiss-) german is my mother language... You know the history of the Torrero's famous bull fight against the name giving Miura bull? Don't think this book rides on the oldknown stories, since it's praised as the bible. Sensational studio shots, archive material believed being lost, detail sketches of former drawings and the writing of a true Afficionados - the mixture is right.
Nice Miura in Japan. Looks like the same color as the SV in Italy? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are those SV rear wheels on the brown car? I've noticed alot os Miura S models with SV wheels. I really like it. Fills out the rear fenders very nicely. I understand they bolt on and fit perfect. The one think I never liked about the S was the inset rear wheels. This gives a sexy look of the SV with the eyelashes. Just bought an extra set of rear SV wheels for my S.
10 years ago I was fortunate enough to pick up 5064 for a song. But it was really tatty and really needed to be restored. Anyway it was my first attempt at a total restoration and came up with a wild color scheme (MR have even dedicated a model to this car!). I think the bright blue interior was a mistake. But, there you have it. These are scans of decade-old images so the quality is not so good - apologies. I cleaned all the lenses in my wife's dishwasher and re-assembled on our breakfast table. I was very active and involved in the restoration with Bobileff (as every owner ought to be) and I sourced the parts and carried the chrome back-and-forth to Christiansens etc. 5064 was the last USA SV, so documented by the factory as you can see. It now resides in Larry A's incredible collection in the north East. Good times! By the way, I think I'm an expert of sorts at restoring the chrome onto the bezels of the air-conditioning vents! The cutout rings that Rafi used to supply were ill-fitting and not working for me so I developed my own painstaking process It involves adhesive foil, an exacto knife, and a steady hand!!! John: FWIW, there is just one SV, built with 'eyelashes'. It is 5028, built for the boss himself, and his son now has it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's quite a clever trick! Also works for interior reflective material for light fixtures. Anyone have any experience with the ones currently on eBay?
I can see that you do your homework! Another Miura milestone from a decade ago featuring your very own 5018. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The factory's own production register refers to 4170 as "Rosso Corsa". 4170 looks like this car in the factory brochure. As a matter of fact it might even be this very car. It is not Rosso Corsa by any stretch of what Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) is known to be... but Lamborghini said it was Rosso Corsa in 1970 Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car was an instant hit back in '01 and I suspect today is still one of the most desired Miuras. The color choices were a bit of a risk but I think you hit a "home run". Lamborghini is about pushing the "envelope". Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually there was a miura done in green with blue. Assuming the blue that is one that is the medium blue that is in joes car now, an original car coming out of the factory was not too far off. We may see one coming soon to show you
