Such a beautiful automobile! I wonder why Pininfarina never designed it in the 1st place instead of the -boring and plain- 275 GTS.

Issue 95 of Prancing Horse has a great article on the 275 NARTs.

New owner should have some money left to buy tires in correct size and spinners which match the Borrani's ;-)

I believe that the second photo from Anamera in post number 1 has the correct Borranis and tires? Marcel?

Agreed, this beauty is infinitely more stunning than the GTS.

Personally I think they ruined the looks, but each to their own.

If they were built by the hundreds I'm sure a lot less Tifosi would consider them "beautiful".

I don't know what the name of the current color is, but I was told the car was orginally painted a gunmetal grey.

This is Serial No. 11057, the one which just recently sold to a U.K. buyer. It's the only one of the ten 275 GTS/4 NART Spiders which was NOT delivered new to the U.S.

When 09437 was new and raced at Sebring, it was Giallo Solare (Sun Yellow). Dick Fritz (former NART Team Manager) told me that 09437 needed to be repainted into a different color for its upcoming appearance in The Thomas Crown Affair (i.e. apparently, it was felt Giallo Solare would not show up so well on film).

Thusly, the decision was made to paint 09437 in Red. However, it was not painted just any Red -- Dick told me that personally chose to paint it (Chevrolet) Honduran Red.

My understanding is that the former owner of 11057 decided that he wanted his 275 GTS/4 NART Spider to look like 09437 did in The Thomas Crown Affair.

Does anyone know how closely the color pictured earlier in this thread matches the shade of Red (i.e. Chevrolet Honduran Red) found on 09437 in the The Thomas Crown Affair?

One other difference between 09437 and ALL the other nine 275 GTS/4 NART Spiders is the perimeter shape of the rear deck lid. The upper corners of 09437's rear deck lid are notched/slightly angled, while the upper corners on the rear deck lids fitted to the other nine have a rounded radius (rounded radii).

Interesting that the Thomas Crown car is now back to its original yellow. While it looks outstanding in its current configuration (it's been shown around here in CT), I have to say that the Thomas Crown color does look very nice. Chevy Honduran Red, eh?

There was never a Honduras Red. It was Honduras Maroon. PPG 50568 dating from the early 1960s.
