Delayed by the storm on Saturday, but took delivery on Sunday. I'm dying to drive it, but not on these roads. Needs belts first anyway. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wonderful, looks great, welcome! Will you be doing your own service? You can update your profile now from wanting to owning. Congratulations
Thanks. Yes, I'm going to do my own service (the basic stuff anyway). Changing belts and checking valve clearance to start with. Plenty of other little projects after that.
Is it a euro? Might be the photo, but it looks like the bumpers have been moved inward. Pretty car. I love the lines of the GTB!
Hey! Another Euro with amber daytime flashers! Just like my '83 GTS, which came from France. Where was yours from? Bob R.
everytime someone is telling their store, i rethink my own purchases. Every time i do that i'm just so happy again. How i love the 3x8's thanks for sharing and enjoy her in good health.
Nice looking 308 QV Euro! Congratulations!! The car is a French Market Euro I think, Amber(Yellow) daytime flashers were mandatory in France, even Headlights were/are Amber(Yellow) in France! The flashers/driving lights are Cibie Airport's and are still widely available new!!! Cheers Pete
yes, it's from France : 33 TT 06...06 = Alpes Maritimes (Nice, Cannes...) near my home (83= Var, Saint Tropez....). I love this car...
GTB QV, nice pick! Looking at the snow you'll have ample time to do maintenance before the roads are clear. Enjoy!
Thanks for the nice comments. The car is a 1984 euro model, originally delivered to France. It was purchased and imported by a Florida doctor in January of 1984. Thanks for the info on the license plate. I was curious about that. The flashing/passing lights are amber as noted, and work by pulling back on the light stalk. The headlights are Cibie also, but are clear not amber. I'm not sure if it came that way, or if they were changed over during the importation process. I went for the euro GTB because I really like the lines of the car, and prefer the tucked in bumpers. I also considered a nice 328 GTB (listed here on F-chat), and had a pretty hard time making up my mind. In the end I decide on the 308 for its more classic feel. This particular car is all original, completely rust free, and relatively low mileage (24K), so it should make an excellent starting point. My plans for the car are to give it a good mechanical going over, since it hasn't seen much use in the last 5 - 10 years, and then simply enjoy driving it. The interior leather is dry, so I will give that some attention in the coming months, and I would also like to upgrade to a set of 16" OEM rims.
Lots of rain yesterday, so all the snow and salt was gone. It warmed up to near 50, so I went for the first proper drive in the 308. I drove it before I bought it, but it was on a crappy day and was a short outing. Today the sun was shining and it was fantastic. Now that I've got that out of my system I can get on with the show and start my planned winter maintenance. Pic from after today's run. Image Unavailable, Please Login
beautiful car! Is the suspension stock/original? I like how it sits - my GTS QV is a bit lower after installing QA1s and new springs, I may raise it up 1/2" or so to bring it closer to yours. You're probably not far from the new Millville track, planning any track time? cheers
Suspension is original. Funny that you want to raise yours up. From aesthetic standpoint I think I would prefer mine to sit a bit lower. I like the way the car drives and handles as is, but I would still like to try 16" wheels. I like the looks of those better, although the metrics are actually growing on me. I am not far from Milleville and have visited the track several times with my cobra replica (now sold), but I have never actually run on the track. I do not plan any extensive track time for the 308, but I wouldn't mind attending a driving school at some point to safely explore the limits of the car. The best thing about Milleville is the go-kart track. Now that is fun.
Looks good - just get those shields off of there. It's a shame we can't have Euro 308s in California -- they do look better. I like the French spec lights.
Wow that is my old car from France! Looks great. Mine had "boxer" paint but the lights bring back old memories. I'm in love with the "06" plates of the Cote d' Azur. Does yours have amber headlights too? Mine worked so poorly, a candle would give out more light. I would suggest changing them to halogen ASAP. I'm with Bullfighter with the shields though... sorry.

The choice of tires in that size is great too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did you add cats? One FOC'er in San Diego had to sell his '85 308 Euro. He was unable to register it, so he's going back down to a 355.
ah yes, didn't notice the smaller wheels. I don't know if the overall tire diameter is any different but the tire/fender gap looks good to me, more 'period' than the lowered stance with stiffened suspension that is undoubtably better for ultimate speed on smooth tracks (not the Nordschleife ). Superformance has replica 16" wheels that many here approve of (I have one rear that replaced a bent original). I love the QA1 shocks/300lb springs from Summit Racing (+mount adaptors from Verrell), many threads here on this affordable upgrade. When you get more seat time in the 308 I'm very curious how you like driving it vs. the cobra (what brand? Did you build it? What motor?). 1 year ago I was actually considering a cobra since they're about 308 money, but the Ferrari mystique and mid-engined layout ultimately pulled me to my GTS. While living in Germany 2002-2005 I had a ball on numerous kart tracks. Not enough of them here in the states After taking my GTS to Elkart Lake last summer I will definitely be back to the track, they are really great fun to push to the limits. cheers
