Here Here! so much space on this board is dedicated to how few miles people actually drive their cars. Personally, as I eternally shop for cars, I reflect upon the "high mile" cars and think "boy, that dude really drove the doors off that thing!!!" good for the previous owner! Snow? Go right ahead! If you drive your 599 every day, is it no longer exotic? we should all stop "saving them (the car)" for the next guy... you just might "wake up dead" and regret not driving it!
They are cars. They are meant to be driven. If you want to look at something, buy a poster to hang on the wall.
Right on. If you spend well over 100k on a car, why should you be limited to driving it only 3 out of the 4 seasons? Besides, the Gallardo can handle snow very well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOIf-yxaZCk +1
Ok, maybe it's only me but the thrill of owning these 'ridiculous' cars is the anticipation of driving them. Driving them daily, year-round, to me takes away from their uniqueness. If driven daily they become just another car. Many years ago I owned some E-type Jags that were driven year-round. After awhile, they might as well have been VWs as the 'anticipation' was gone. >>>"Ferrarista3 Quote: Originally Posted by Darolls View Post I noticed the cars you listed in your profile are "family owned." I only meant that if YOU owned the cars and provided maintenance and repairs(you said you're a student) you might feel differently. Do you drive the same car day-in and day-out? If so, I can't believe it wouldn't become 'just another car' to you.
I agree with you. Many years ago when I was using Porsches as daily drivers I had a similar lack of anticipation. While they were great cars, in using them every day you get used to them and thereby fail to appreciate the uniqueness of these cars to a certain degree. On the other hand, wouldn't it be great to be able to drive a Lambo every day?
I think it is a fine line. Yess, it is fantastic if you can drive these cars every day. OTOH if you don't drive them every day, the level of anticipation rises and they don't loose their exclusive air. I can understand both sides of the argument.
I get excited everytime I drive my Gallardo, regardless if it is in a caravan of exotics or if I am running to Target for toilet paper. Nothings funnier than people staring you down as you try to jam the 48 pack of Charmin into the tiny little trunk. In no way does using it as my grocery getter make it any less exotic, this type of thinking is ridiculous.
I love when I take a long break from the car sites, I come back and remember why I took a long break from the car sites. My comment on the Phaeton was meant to compare the amount of technology and features you get Phaeton W12 vs. 745Li vs. S500 USED with a bit of humor injected. The car wasnt a failure VWs marketing was. And Skippy you got it all wrong, I didnt buy a car to boost my ego but to fit my existing personality, wich is something I realized the 3 of us actually have in commmon. Our cars fit our personalities perfectly. Mines a bit loud over the top and ironic to the point of being humorous. Yours is running on 5 misfiring cylinders and held together with bubble gum and a prayer. My one caveat here is that I may have just inadverantly admitted that the two of you actually have personalities. So the next time you guys are firing up those asthmatic viagra dispenors on wheels you call Ferrari's to head down the bingo night at the VFW, be sure to wave as you pass my house, after all since it is made of glass I shouldnt have any trouble spotting you.
Yes as always the tag team duo of Andreas and Skippy can crap on anyone and anything they want and when called out on it the member gets banned. Whoopdi doo theres 15 minutes more in my week I'll have to organize my sock drawer by color.
Calling a 308 an "asthmatic viagra dispenors on wheels" and Skipp's concours ready 308 GTB "running on 5 misfiring cylinders and held together with bubble gum and a prayer" is just plain wrong. I misjudged you when I shook your hands in friendship a few months ago at the Italian Exotics event. I won't need to tell you what you are, your post makes it perfectly clear for everybody to see.
Calling a Gallardo an ego boosting device to make somebody who lives in a glass house 'finally feel like a man' was clearly taking the high road. A tip of my hat to you sir clearly I misread that post.
Except that I didn't make such a comment in this thread. You are mixing Skip's and my post together. I criticized Skip for his remarks: My post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139197806&postcount=60 Skip's follow up: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139198738&postcount=61 My challenge to Skip: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139200429&postcount=62 Skip's apology: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139201119&postcount=63 All this after you went on that slippery slope of the ego debate by using some foul language, which I let go by: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139197260&postcount=56
Yes the Black Enzo is for sale. Was there this week. The owner of the car is asking $1.2 million for the car.
With all due respect and total humility, it does appear you have a 'personal identity' problem. Perhaps a lack of self-esteem or self-respect; I'm not quite sure which? In no way do I mean this as an insult,or a demeaning statement but yet, so many believe that. It seems you base your personality on the car/s you drive. Your past posts seem to indicate that. It's a sad societal statement to say that the material things we have make us special To say that "Yes as always the tag team duo of Andreas and Skippy can crap on anyone and anything they want and when called out on it the member gets banned;" is totally out of line. Yes, we are friends, but to imply that I get preferential treatment because of our friendship is both an insult and defamation to our character. If you check it out Andreas, or per his inquires to other moderators, has had me banned by himself or others. Andreas is a man of great integrity and fairness, and to indicate anything else is a complete insult to Andreas! I don't expect an apology, but I sure think you owe Andreas one! P.S. Anyone with good credit can purchase almost anything they want; but can the pay for it? Having material objects are actually immaterial to most, but not to others.
Thank god people are seeing cars, not just yellow (from everyone pissing on everyone else)! I got a pic of that Orange Tesla. Played paddle at Saddle and Cycle a month ago, was in the lot. Had some cool carbon fiber interior / tail.
Get yourself a battery maintainer; you can pick one up at Harbor Freight for about 6 bucks. It floats and works great!
