Garage Lifts

Looking at getting a garage lift so I can store 2 cars in the garage.

The garage dimesnions are 5.60 x 2.44

Anyone here know if I can fit a lift in a garage of this size?

 

Could you be more vauge ?

Yards, meters, feet, what are we talking here ?

More than the ceiling I had a load bearing beam to work around. Good luck.

 

I have a Direct Lift. The lift will fit in the garage fine. The bigger question is can you get one car on the lift and another under it.

I have a 328 sitting on my lift with 3 inches between it and the ceiling. I also can park a Grand Am or other sedan type under it with about 6-8 inches of clearance.

My advice is measure your cars at least three times, add 10 cm for the lift ramps the car sits on and you will need probably at least another 15 cm clearance for the ceiling and under the lift for the second car.

Measure many times and be sure of your measurements before buying the lift.

 

I need to check exactly. I would say about 7 Foot.

If your ceiling is 7 feet I doubt you will be able to fit a lift and get two cars parked there. 7 feet (84") would only allow about 64" for the combined height of the cars, and I don't know of any two cars that could fit in that height combined.

And you also need to allow for enough height to store the lift on a "stop", which requires being able to raise the lift above this stop (to release the stop) a couple inches, to be able to lower the lift back down. There would be different stop heights for different lifts.

 

Depending on the roof contruction assuming you don't have a bedroom over the garage you may be able to modify the ceiling trusses to give you more height? Also remember in order to park a second car underneth you need to be able to get the garage door open far enough for the second car to pull in. Consider a Jackshaft power opener instead of a common style and it will allow you to have the tracks on the door right up against the ceiling.

 

Having 84" floor-ceiling clearance the solution is obvious. Get two Ford GT40 supercars. Their roof is 40" off the deck, hence the nomenclature.

By using a 3" carbon fiber box girder to provide lift/store for the upper car, there will be a comfortable centimeters between cars, and at the ceiling.

Or use solar powered LED simulated candles. This place could do dual duty as car storage, maintenance and candle ambiance for spiritual experiences while working on the car or prayer services before taking the car to the street.

Though I admit and regret my folks never taught me Irish. They both spoke it well but tended to only use it when they were fighting with each other .
