    Hi Jim!

Did the Forza Motorsport folks test drive 0846 to modelize it for the game? When will 0846 be available in FM?

    Cheers!

They didn't drive it but photographed it in great detail for the game.

I wonder how they will modelize the way the car drives. Also they should recreate the red vinyl seats (not reproduced in the screenshot you provided).

Do you know if and when will she be available for the game?

    Cheers.

I'm not sure although they seem to have used her interior for their P 4 interior.

    Cheers

They DID use your funky purple dymo tape labels for their P4 interior ;-)

    Jim,

Do you have any insight into why the nose of 0846 is higher than the nose on the 0856 coupe? Would seem they were encouraging less flow over the top of the of the open 046.

Apologies if this was discussed previously - only just read your 128 page document today. BTW, thanks for the interesting holiday read - much appreciated.

I'm surprised they can even attempt it, considering they didn't drive it! As a coincidence, I played Forza 3 yesterday and happened to race a P4 against my friend, who is a better driver, driving a Lamborghini Gallardo. It handled wonderfully and I won the race. :) Thanks for letting them photograph it Jim, it's a nice addition to the game. Did they just contact you out of the blue?

I think, back then, the design was more of an Art than a Science. When we put Dino Competizione in the PF wind tunnel it was very interesting to see just how primitive aerodynamically she was. The bodies were built by hand, each was slightly different and they were adjusted at the track. 0846's nose inlet was pulled open when they needed more cooling at Sebring and the Targa Florio for example. The Spyders were easier to drive as the coupes got very hot but aerodynamically as you note they created more drag and at Le Mans on the Mulsanne the coupes were faster. The Mk-IV's had less drag but they created lift at 223 mph. The P 4 coupes topped out at 199 mph.

    0846 is unique. She isn't a P4. She is a "Bastard" created by reworking a P3 into a P4
(P 3/4) and her chassis and body are different than either a P3 or a P4. Her nose is P3 and her tail (Currently 0858's Brands Hatch Spyder Tail) is P4. As she has a modified P3 chassis not a P4 chassis her tail lines up with her door bottom on the side and as her wheelbase was modified (2412mm to 2400mm) to allow her P4 tail to clear her rear tire when raised her center section is modified as well. Her story is in the metal.

    Doug

We've know each other for a while. They follow FCHAT and have read the 0846 paper.

Ferrari also suggested to them that I would help them out.

They do want to go for a drive and record her. They wanted to hook her to a dyno but as she's a bit fragile I suggested a ride instead which will likely happen this Spring.

    Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

    Thanks Jim.

So, in effect, the difference at the front (between 0846 and 0856) is really the difference between the P3 and P4 noses, respectively?

All the best for a Happy New Year!

    Neat photo!

If cars could talk, what do you think the others would be saying about the look of that Chaparral? :D
