Replacing TR Relays Question.......

    I am starting a new thread here rather than clutter the sticky, so here goes.

    I have a 1987 TR chassis # 700069

    I want to upgrade all relays as pointed out in a post by ASG86R in the sticky TR thread.

    BUT..............

    As you will see in the comparative photos below, I have a somewhat "different" looking relay configuration.
    NOTE.....Carguy(previous owner) may be able to give some insight into the "configuration".

    I want to order all the "correct" relays offered by Tyco , and therefore want to make sure I plug the correct relay into the corresponding(correct) position in the fuse box.

    The pix with the 01/01/2001 time stamp is MY fuse box.

    Any and all insight and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    P.S. I realize I have been posting alot of questions in the past week....but I have been away on business for the last year and now have an opportunity for the next couple of months to get Darth Vader up to date and happy. In other words, Rifle and Steve, this will eventually end.......I think!!!

    Your relays are the same - the larger black ones in your photo are just the later equivalent for the ones with the orange diagonal stripe. To expand the information that ASG86R gave in the post before the post that you got the photo out of:

    Bosch 0332 204 101 (with the orange diagonal stripe on the case) which became Bosch 332 209 151 (in a larger black plastic case) which is now Tyco V23234A0001X037 12V 40 AMP SPDT (purple case)

    Bosch 0332 014 113 (with no marking on the case) which became Bosch 332 019 151 (in a larger black plastic case) which is now Tyco V23234C0001X006 12V 40 AMP SPST (brown case)

    Here's a shot of how that board looks with the original relays (which is how yours looked before someone did the black replacements and how ASG86R's looked before the rewiring) -- wherever there is a relay with an orange diagonal stripe on it, replace it with the purple Tyco, and, wherever there is a relay with no mark on the case, replace it with the brown Tyco:

    In ASG86R's photo, some of the relays have been "relocated" (probably behind the PCBA) no doubt because of trouble with the contacts in the white connectors.

    The only really special one is the one with the "K" on it (note ASG86R had to reuse that one) -- if you find an alternative (non-Bosch) replacement for that one, please post the information.

    I researched that "K" relay and no dice. Can't seem to find it. I am all ears for ideas and leads.

    Thanks Mr. M..................Just needed some clarification....Tommorrow I shall order all the upgrade Tycos and be able to put that possible weak link to rest for now. If I find the "K"...I shall announce it.................By the way what is the "description" that is.......the elusive "K".,,,.in other words what are the specifications one would ask for to get a replacement? If I have those I can start an extensive search while home and bored............

    There's a description of the internal contacts stamped on the outside case. What's special about the "K" relay is that when it is "off", the two output terminals 87 and 87b are isolated from each other; however, when it's "on", the 87 and 87b terminals are simultaneously connected to each other and to terminal 30.

    I FOUND the K relay.............Yes an updated, modern technology direct replacement. I will have a price tomorrow along with the part #.....................

    But.....................

    I have been informed that there is a minimum amount of this relay I will need to buy in order to even get the 2 I will need (1 to install & 1 to have as a spare). So what I am proposing is, if there is any interest by others out here in F-land to get a pair I would be willing to order the minimum and sell them at cost plus shipping. Let's say their $5 usd each......Well then you buy 2 @ $5 each X 2 = $10 + $5 shipping = $15 usd....................Is their interest?

    Now I still do not know what my cost will be or the minimum I must order, I am waiting for the phone to ring with the answer................ They may be $1 each or $12 each, and I may need to only order 10 or maybe the minimum is 50+. So just keep that in mind. I will check back in the next few hours overnite and see if there are interested parties. .................If not I'll just sell them on ebay for mucho dollarinos...

    Hmm...I bought a large quantity of these awhile back for my BB and other Ferrari's. If the PN is 0332015006, I'm pretty sure I have 10 or so kicking around here somewhere and their OEM Bosch....not cheap, but no crazy, as I recall.

    I just bought a Bosch 0 332 015 006 relay from Partsgeek.com for 10.75. It's listed for a 1998 SAAB 9000, A/C compressor cooling fan

    Just to be clear, these 006 relays are a direct replacement for the "K" relays on my 512TR board and are somehow superior due to newer manufacturing techniques and materials?

    I replaced most of the relays several years ago with the newer Bosch replacements. It seems I need 2 "K" replacements. Does anyyone know if there are replacements for the other four silver non-K relays shown below? My fuse box is currently en route to Dave Helms, so I do not have access to any numbers on the relays.

    As far as I can see these are direct replacements. The picture shown on the PartsGeek website is identical to what is in my board. Silver metal housing etc....................
    I noticed in one picture that the P/N was 0 332 015 011 which supercedes the 006 relay.
    Gotta love this internet thing............................

    A part number from the ones on your board will tell the tale

    What are the Bosch numbers on those silver colored non "K" relays on your borad?
    If you let me know, I will check their electrical characteristics, type, and provide with cross references.

    I have identified sources for most of relays at reasonlable cost and will let you know.

    This is NOT for a 512TR.
    IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE 512 TR BOARD IS DIFFERENT THAN THE STANDARD TR BOARD.
    This is for a US Spec 1988.5 TR
    There is only ONE "K' type relay in my board.
    These are OEM Bosch numbers.
    Looking at the board from the front of the car, LH being the passenger side (US).

    This is the way it is set up in MY TR . This does NOT mean this is the way it is in all US Spec TR's (as we all know).
