Just out of interest, how many miles do most drivers cover in their Ferrari per year? Mercs are great cars for driving everyday, easy to drive and comfortable.

That would depend if the Ferrari is a daily driver or not. I would guess most Ferraris are garage queens that don't see more than 5k a year. Now that's just a guess.

Great fun to drive with manual transmission and looks cool for 37+ years old.

Very early production- original badged as 350SL but with the 4.5 liter. Mods include original MB 4 speed tranny/differential, newer wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Euro headlights added but bumpers are original. Front apron from 560SL. Totally restored over a 15 year period (stupid me spent 3X it's market value!!).

Live and learn- let others restore your next classic!

    mcimmno,

    Is your MB a 6.3, 4.5, 3.5 or a 2.8? We had a 280SE 4.5 way back in the 1970s. As I remember, my sister shorten it.

I love that steering wheel, looks great ! Is it an easy job to swap out the ugly plastic original?

No issues whatsoever- single bolt and standard Nardi install kit (~$70). Make sure to get the correct horn wire kit (two wires or single). It does look good- I think I remember it as 390mm.

Though this car is going to be worth $40,000 in three years, I still love it, even more then the SL65, it has such a wonderful transmission and exhaust note. Though many people say Mercedes don't have any passion, I personally think this car is an exception. COol thing about this car in particular is that it is the IWC (Mercedes watch partnership) edition and it is painted a factory matte white.

    SL63-

I went to the dealer last summer and drove the S63. The 63 just didn't feel like it had the punch that the 55 had. Anyone else that has driven both the 55 and the 63 feel the same way?
