I agree with 1&4 depending on Thursdays game. Next year Boise State plays Virginia Tech and Oregon State nonconference. The Boise State football team and it's fans have no problem being the under dogs. It's all about put up or shut up. Win your games and you don't have to make excuses. As Boise States AD said a couple of months ago we will play anyone anywere with no return game expected. Still don't have a taker for the 3rd game in 2011. Nebraska's AD said that if BSU played their schedule they would go .500. BTW the Huskers are also searching for an opponent for week 3 2011. Hum I wonder why Nebraska doesn't invite BSU to play a game in Lincoln? I would think that would be better than scheduling Southeasternmiddle pinceltucky state of Logan Utah?
get rid of that uglyazz blue field and people might start taking Boise seriously. If you look liked a joke people will think you are a joke.
I don't know. Maybe it's like being a boy named Sue...the blue playing field makes them fight really well.
One ranked team. Tough schedule there. Maybe they could replace Oregon with School for the lame and infirm Thu, Sep 03 Oregon 14 16 Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 8:15 pm 19 - 8 (W) Sat, Sep 12 Miami (OH) 11 - Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 6:00 pm 48 - 0 (W) Fri, Sep 18 Fresno State * 10 - at Fresno, CA 7:00 pm 51 - 34 (W) Sat, Sep 26 Bowling Green 8 - at Bowling Green, OH 5:00 pm 49 - 14 (W) STATS KTVB Sat, Oct 03 UC Davis 5 - Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 6:00 pm 34 - 16 (W) KTVB Wed, Oct 14 Tulsa 5 - at Tulsa, OK 6:00 pm 28 - 21 (W) ESPN Sat, Oct 24 Hawai'i * 6 - at Honolulu, HI 9:00 pm 54 - 9 (W) KTVB Sat, Oct 31 San Jose State * 6 - Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 1:00 pm 45 - 7 (W) KTVB Fri, Nov 06 Louisiana Tech * 5 - at Ruston, LA 6:00 pm 45 - 35 (W) ESPN2 Sat, Nov 14 Idaho * 6 - Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 1:30 pm 63 - 25 (W) ESPN U Fri, Nov 20 Utah State * 6 - at Logan, UT 7:30 pm 52 - 21 (W) ESPN2 Fri, Nov 27 Nevada * 6 - Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) 8:08 p.m. 44 - 33 (W) ESPN2 Sat, Dec 05 New Mexico State *
The smurf turf is great. Stop in by and see it sometime. "nothing like the blue, blue turf of home" 44 straight home victories. Longest such streak in the nation! "fear the blue"
Sparta49, BTW Boise State beat 2 ranked teams this year. In fact no other team in the nation beat 2 teams that were ranked higher. Oregon was ranked #8 at the time and TCU #4. No other team beat 2 conference champions. BSU is going to change conferences sooner than later. The funny thing is the only 2 thinks people can say bad about Boise State is they play in a weak conference and they have blue turf. Ooh that right because they have the highest winning % in college football since 1999. when you when games people have to try to pick at other things like the color of your field. I'm not saying BSU is the best team in the nation this year but they do deserve respect.
Perhaps you mean that no *lower* ranked team beat anyone higher. Alabama beat #1, #7, and #9, among others... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bama beat 7 Virginia Tech, 9 LSU, and 1 Florida. Props to Boise, I'd like to see them get more shots at big teams, but Bama's done more against top 10. Edit: No Doubt...
Pardon me I was incorrect in that statement. I have little doubt that Alabama is the best team in the nation. It is pretty sad that BSU doesn't get the national coverage. The were on ESPN (or 2) 7 times this year but I am sure that most of the country tuned out of those games because the start times were 11ish ET. The SEC is by far the best conference top to bottom in the nation. I do say that if you have a chance watch the Broncos next year. Very good team and worth watching. They are probably going to be on ESPN a bunch.
Hey Kriss, I did not say anything bad about Boise. They came out and stopped the TCU rushing offense like no one else has done this season. And they threw some new defensive and offensive looks at TCU they had not seen. Great coaching. Can't say much bad about a team that is 49-4 under their present coach. Neither team played up to their real potential. Both quarterbacks are better than they showed. I am sure both coaches will say they missed on a number of things that they should have connected on. And I have to agree with the penalties on the TCU side. Jerry Hughes jumping offsides and actually making a light hit on the QB. Lucky he only got the offsides and not a roughing the QB call. And the reserve tackle who moved early twice three plays apart. Not good... I am very disappointed that the team I have watched closely for the past number of years decided to stay at home and let the excitement/pressure of their first BCS bowl get to them. I have attended 13 of their games in the last two years and either watched or listened to all the others on TV, computer or radio. I have seen their normal method of operation and last night was not it. Establish the rushing game, open it up with selective passing and keep it mixed up. MBFerrari. I only meant that it is hard to send 8 to 10 teams to bowls when you only have 9 teams in your conference and it takes 7 wins to get a bowl nod. And only about 50% of the teams are good enough to actually represent well in a bowl game......of any type. I stand here with egg on my face. The team that I built a pretty good case for did not make it to the big game. But a 12-0 regular season is respectable in anyones conference. Patterson says he is building and his successes show this to be true. In his nine years of coaching there his record is 83-27 while having five seasons with 11 wins or more and in 7 bowl appearances being 5-2 including the loss last night. I brag more about successes than he does. I think that TCU should get more respect than they do but he says the only way that can happen is to continue to win, and win against whoever they get to play. In the next 5 years they are scheduled to play Arkansas, Oklahoma, Navy, SMU, LSU, Texas Tech and a few others that I cannot remember. If they can win against those, especially Oklahoma, LSU and Texas Tech, perhaps they can earn some form of respect. Kinda makes me wonder though why Texas Tech renigged on playing TCU next year and opted to play Weber State instead. Looking for an easy win? Helps the win/loss column but does nothing for the national ranking. Oh well, I am rambling, gotta shut up now. Alabama 27, Texas 24 with Alabama dominating most of the game and Texas scoring on quick strikes, maybe only scoring 17. But I still have to yell for Texas....Hook 'em Horns... But TCU did win the best looking girls trophy for the TCU Showgirls versus the Girls from Boise. Dalton and Hughes below after the game.....Big disappointment for both...... Hahahahaha TCU. Loved the game! I was in downtown Ft. Worth to watch it making it even sweeter. Don't get me wrong, If you asked me at the beginning of the season if I would root for TCU in a BCS bowl this year I would have completely said yes. But after all the ads in the paper, all the crap coming from TCU fans, and the stupid signs in the crowd at the game, "texas has new horns" (gimme a break), I enjoyed every minute of the suckfest that was the siesta bowl ending in a TCU loss. Both quarterbacks were missing wide open receivers and just bombing it on useless plays. I can't give much credit to the defenses on keeping this one a low scoring affair after watching what poor products the offenses put on the field. Maybe next year. I'm flying out tomorrow for LA. I'll be in the front row slightly to the left of the goalpost behind the "Alabama" end zone. Hook 'em (prays to Tebow our o-line can give colt some time to make plays Thursday night, if not it'll be a long night) Edit: Completely agree with regards to the TCU ladies.
Anotherdunnedeal, Much respect brother. You are 100% correct in that neither team made the big plays that got them to that point. Kellen Moore missed his target on three long bombs by more than 5 yards! That is something you don't see very much. I have a ton of respect for TCU and watched them dismantle Utah and BYU. My intial reaction when they announced the Fiesta bowl was ooohhh s*it BSU just drew the second best team in the nation!!!! I think you play that game ten more times and at least one team scores over 20 every time. I have lived in Boise for about 10 years. I am a Florida Gator fan. when I moved here if you would have told me I would root root for BSU like this I would have called you crazy. The loyalty and enthusiam for this team and the University on this area rivals that of Norman and Lincoln. (yes I have spent time in both cities). I wish TCU well in the years to come. I pulling for Texas in the title game because I can't root for another SEC team. I think it's very special to be a huge football fan and live in Boise during the rise of "the new U". I find it laughable to watch ESPN and have Kirk Herbstreet bash the crap out of this team week after week. So sorry for being defensive in that post. BSU fans kind of have to roll that way but less by the minute. To everyone of my fellow f-chatters. Please catch at least one BSU game next year. Oregon State on the Blue in week 2 and Virgina Tech at FedEx field on Oct. 3. I'm sure they will be on ESPN many times. Very entertaining. Thanks for reading.
I love the Tebow praise even in sarcasm. Every man I have talked to about the Fiesta bowl has commented on the level of good look TCU women on that broadcast. Oohhh yea. I don't know were the hell they got all the BSU women Fox kept showing but that is not represenative of the quality of talent in this town. (thank god!)
What good is the highest winning percent when your competition is crap ?? So you are the best of the worst ?? And the blue field still looks like crap.
Have fun! I only hope for the Texas team so that the SEC voices are quieted, but I really think Bama wins by a solid touchdown. Orange Bowl was a real snoozer last night, looked like a boring mid tier regular season game. GT had no excitement at all, and Derrick Morgan was a bust. Great season for Iowa. BT
Sparta's tag: "A good plan violently executed right now is far better than a perfect plan executed next week. " I don't know where that is from, but it's genius. I am going to use that one.
Boise State is a fast rising football program. The schedule has been getting better every year. Plans for several conference shake ups are in the works. If the Big 10.5 gets to 12 teams by poaching another BCS program (like they want to) there will be quite a few other schools changing. BSU has plans in place to expand the stadium by a huge number the moment that happens. The Pac-10 finally has a comissioner that is some what forward thinking. In 5 years Bronco fans won't have to defend this program. The proof will be laid out on the field and yes it will still be blue! PS: as much as I don't like it Bama will probably roll Texas. I hope not but....
Tell me about it. This long-@ss lay'off is just too much. I mean, Bama could get off their A-game, and perhaps Texas could actually find theirs! My friend from here will be there at the game in the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena. It's the same day as her 30th b-day, and she's a Longhorn alumn'. She's thinking of making an ABC/BCS sign, etc'. Anyone got any ideas? Or should I be sorry I even asked!
You can't imagine what it's like being the lone Alabama Guy at all of these Texas infested parties. Roll Tide! Another wonderful year.
Props to you AnotherDunneDeal, and I get your point. Look fellas, regardless of how YOU feel, the rest of us that are LSU, Bama, OSU, or USC fans just aren't going to buy in to the huge winning percentage more than just what it is, a lot of wins. That is not easy, but when you are a top program the best shot you are getting from everyone is coming from teams like Auburn and Iowa, not Air Force and Hawaii. I think both BSU and TCU had great years, and I am a huge playoff proponant, so hopefully they can actually figure out who the best team is on the field one day. That would be nice. MB
