Looking to buy a 1985 Euro 308 QV GTB in the US. Prefer Black, Grey or Dark Blue. Must be in excellent condition. Performance mods ok, as long as it looks stock. PM me if interested.

I thought that I might have been too late for that one. I wish that I could have pulled the trigger earlier. Congrats on the sale.

    Lew,
My car is US not Euro...and still not for sale. In fact, it's getting a major right now in my shop. PM me if you need any help finding one or need any service work or upgrades. I think you're only about an hour or two from me.

I would love to know! I'll also add silver to the group of acceptable colors.

Carl - thanks for the tip on the black one. I will check it out.

That is probably this car: 058215 Black/Red………………………………....3/26/86 del date

Lew, that car looks VERY nice. Definitely worth looking into. Price isn't out of line and I love the red interior.

I concur, if it passes a compression test and is as clean underneath, probably a good one to consider.

The U.S. bumpers look less bad on the black cars, plus it can be resold/registered in California if/when you decide to sell.

Euro GTB's are hard to find. During the 6 or 8 months I was looking there were only about 3 or 4 available. One was carreaper's (wife said no to a blue Ferrari), another was an injected car but not a QV, the other was the one I bought.

They are not impossible to find, but be prepaired to wait quite a while. Since your requirements are so specific, you may need to pay more than you would like when one finally does become available. I would bet that a car meeting your requirements only comes up for sale once every year or two.

When I was looking I expanded my search to include 328 GTB's also. I still like the look of the euro 308's better, but at least with the 328's there are minimal visual differences between the US and Euro versions so there isn't much point in specifically seeking out a Euro car.

Good advice. I expect to pay a premium because of availability and desired condition.

Interesting, they listed the car less than a month ago at $45K. Selling that fast means they must have got very close to asking price! IMHO well bought.

Maybe I should know this because I was born and raised in CA (but moved out in 93).
Why can't you register a euro in CA? Is there no way around the smog board now? How about if you move there with a euro car?

I wanted to buy a 360 cube engine in a Dodge truck in 1988 and CA didn't allow them to be sold there> I did some research, went to an Iowa dealer that had what I wanted and had him write me a note saying my trade in was "Not Economically Repairable" CA had no choice but to issue me a title/license.

    Bump.

Still looking and wanted to keep the post fresh. I know it's a rare car, but there is bound to be one for sale sometime.
