    Just for historical reference…

    The thread started on 8/22…

By 8/28 all on FerrariChat 11 users had signed up with their F40’s before JAS took the leadership position…

On 8/31 I offered to use all the FerrariChat.com resources in my control to help the event…

I later agreed it was overstepping my bounds to have the FerrariChat.com name involved, but on 8/31 Jas was nice enough to inform me FerrariChat.com might be able to help sponsor the event.

By 9/1 there had been 17 users respond directly in this thread they were interested in the event, but Jas posted the following that day…

Since then JAS took communication of this event off FerrariChat and last I heard from him was that September PM he just posted and I never got that follow-up 2 weeks later with more details.

What part of the above pm was not worthy of even an acknowledgement pm or reply ? What part of "I am open to all suggestions from you" suggests I didn't intend to keep communication lines open. I never received a reply for a pm you now acknowledge you received...how that is my fault is beyond me.

Jas, please understand I’m not mad at you or trying to attack you, if anything disappointed, but this is out of my control and something I’m use to as the admin of FerrariChat.com. This job also takes a thick skin. This event was DM1’s great idea started on FerrariChat.com and almost 20 F40’s showed interest and were fine with the thread and involving FerrariChat until you took over the leadership. I am 100% fine with that, you were nominated, you accepted, and as the leader you made the decision to take this off FerrariChat and not involve us. I completely understand privacy concerns of many owners and this event being larger than FerrariChat.com, no hard feelings, just don’t rewrite history.

FerrariChat.com supports those that support us.

I apologize, I don’t remember exactly what happened. My lack of response would have nothing to do with you or my feelings towards the event. I always try to respond to each email and PM, I take pride in doing that even considering how many I get a day. My only excuse, which isn’t a good one as explained in my PM, is that I didn’t see any action items or questions in your PM so was waiting for the “details” you promised in 2 weeks I never got.

Jas, lets move on, end of the day you are the leader of this event and you really don’t need FerrariChat.

Your inference is completely baseless and without merit, as the evidence shows. If you persist in your line of reasoning and self pity, I have no control over that. If anything, you decided my extended hand for cooperation and acknowledgement of Fchat was not worthy of a response. You took yourself out of the mix, and even at this juncture, I am doing everything I can publicly, on this thread, to include you. I really don't know how else I can spell out my intent....it is what it is.

Where have I said that I don't want or need Fchat...can someone, anyone, show me how that is interpreted based on my pm or posts here ?

I have a great idea. I would like to nominate Rob Lay and Fchat as lead organizers of the F40 gathering. I have no problem with that whatsoever. I can still attend as an owner and enthusiast of the F40 and enjoy it just as thoroughly. I also pledge to do everything I can to support the event and work towards making it as successful as possible.

I am totally fine and happy with that....sincerely. This way the promotional/corporate skills of Concorso and Fchat can be combined, and I can enjoy the event just the same as I ever would have :)

On behalf of Concorso Italiano I am now feeling a little uneasy about expressing our thanks and appreciation to ALL involved.
How my expression of thanks got wound into me implying that others were not thankful is
    very strange.
Perhaps I should apologize for my apology?

I think we should all take a deep breath, have a drink, and relax. Soon enough a massive convoy of red F40's numbering 48, 68, or 58 who cares, will be descending onto the Concorso Lawn in an spectacular sight, all being caught on video and forever etched in the hearts and minds of Ferrari lovers world wide.

As just another F40 owner and Fchat member and Concorso prior and future attendee, permit me to extend the following kudo's:

DM1 - thanks for kicking off this great reunion idea

Rob - thanks for giving the idea air time and your support on Fchat

Concorso folks - thanks for letting us join you in 2010

RufMD - thanks for volunteering to take the organizing lead

Folks, RufMD is just another enthusiastic F40 owner, no different than the rest of us. He's committing some of his time to organize this event out of nothing more than community spirit. He's got no other "dog in this hunt" other than being another nice and giving person.

If someone else would be better able and willing to devote the time and energy to pulling this reunion together, I think all the F40 owners would be equally supportive.

Thanks again to everyone involved - this will be a lot of fun!!

    Peloton,

Thanks for your elegant synopsis !

I just spent the last 30 minutes with my 17 mos old son on my shoulders laughing hysterically....the rest of this stuff is such a waste of time.

I reiterate my full support for the F40 Gathering at Monterey.

I hereby nominate Rob Lay and Fchat to take over the lead organizing role and pledge my full assistance throughout.

Would someone kindly second the motion ?

I don't expect anything from the event or CI, but your comments were appreciated as were others...

Not saying it wouldn't have happened otherwise, but your post in this thread is how you/CI and Jas got connected in the first place...

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138928959&postcount=75

Portenos, you are welcome to remove your thanks to FerrariChat.

I certainly don't expect everyone to be like Jim who mentions FerrariChat every time he is interviewed for TV or print, but then there are other people who seem to only use FerrariChat for what they can take, then give nothing back.

I expect nothing, but certainly have a long memory who the friends of FerrariChat are.

will you let me post your PM just sent that proves what I suspected, that you have it out for me and FerrariChat just because Joe Sackey is a sponsor? you and Joe have a long standing fight and although I've stayed neutral (I have 40 sponsors & 70k users so I'm not tied to any 1) you haven't seen it this way and have been looking to get me and FerrariChat.

this thread was going great with F40 owners jumping on board having no problem discussing the event on FerrariChat. only when you became the leader did the plug get pulled on FerrariChat.com.

the facts are what they are, I'm not fighting it, just disappointed and not letting you call it something other than it is.

I second the motion for Rob to take over organizing the F40 reunion.

Rob, if you'd be so kind to consider this, it would be great and I'd be happy to help.

I volunteered to help organize a track day for us while in Monterey, and I'd be pleased to continue that effort or pass that along as you see fit.

    Thanks again for considering this!

Go ahead so that everyone can see that Joe was never mentioned. Its funny how you readily receive some pms but have difficulty receiving/recalling others...I guess it depends on what fits your drama.

I appreciate the nomination and although I had experience organizing over 60 Ferrari events as the FCA DFW President 2001-2005, I would mainly be lacking in that I don't own a F40. I think the event needs a F40 owner at the helm and someone that was actually planning to be at Monterey this year. ;)

I know you are just joking, but Jas needs to lead and everyone else needs to support him.

Please just let me walk away from this event and thread with my head down.

    Rob -

I was not joking at all, it would be great if you'd be so kind as to take this on. I suspect you have way more experience organizing an event like this than most/all of the F40 owners. What car one owns has no bearing on event organizaton skills. Jas doesn't want the role any more. If you or someone of your qualifications doesn't take it, I surmise that the event is a non-starter. I'll be at Concorso anyway and hope to enjoy another fine day among all the F-cars, owners and enthusiasts.

you are making stuff up, I try to answer all emails and PM's, I apologized to you for not responding to your September PM with a "cool, let's talk again when you have the details in 2 weeks". You never sent that PM and you never tried to contact again, if you really wanted to involve FerrariChat you would have followed up with another PM or email. When I'm working WITH someone and not AGAINST them I make sure there isn't a break in communication for the benefit of all.

Everyone is well aware of your battle with Joe Sackey, so we know who you talk about below and the PM out of public view also shows your long standing personal contempt towards me.

problem with being a FCA Chapter President for 4 years, SCCA Class Director for 4 years, and NASA Class Director for 2 years is you get burnt out. As Jas, Joe, and anyone else that has volunteered to organize an event knows it takes a ton of time, effort, politics, and is thankless.

I have no heart for this event because I'm not an owner, not going to Monterey this year, and it is late for me to do what I would have done. You can rest assured that you will see me organize large scale events over the coming decades, but this isn't it.
