Where's the Nissan badge on that black GT-R? -kevin
That was as close as I got to the car when I snapped the picture so I never saw the driver, and I hardly ever pay any attention to who's driving these cars unless it's a female. Maybe they are ashamed that it's a Nissan and took it off
I went to Atlanta this weekend, and I saw 3 Ferrari f430s, a Lamborghini Diablo, A Lamborghini Gallardo, a bunch of Bentleys and Maseratis, and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I saw most of these cars on Peachtree and Roswell Road.
I was driving north on Piedmont - just about to pass Mercedes of Buckhead - and I noticed the the delivery truck that was being unloaded had a car that was almost vertical. I thought for a second that it was strange and then as I passed by I noticed that IT FELL OF ONE OF THE SUPPORTS. I have pictures of this and I will post them tomorrow but geez... I immediately took two u-turns to drive by it again and the car was a brand new E-Class. The windshield was busted because it hit one of the supports and though I am not sure about anything I am certain that someone was having a bad day.
haha! Yeah you are absolutely right, that will make for a bad day. Makes you wonder why that doesn't happen more often.
Been busy lately but caught this the other day at Car Tunes on Roswell, don't see too many in red I don't know how I missed this but there's one of those running around town, it's called the Cayenne Transsyberia and I thought it looked pretty cool. The one I've seen also has the orange stickers on the side of it too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
2009 has been an amazing year for car spotting for me, and I wanted to post some year-end statistics as I know F-chat enjoys my car spotting stats, and totalling them up at the end has been something of a tradition for me the last few years. Even though I'm not currently in Atlanta at the moment, Atlanta has provided me with the vast majority of my sightings for the year and I wanted to have this post in a place where I could come back and find it later, as well as put it where people who have been very supportive to me and my hobby could enjoy it. 2009 END OF THE YEAR STATISTICS: Total 2009 sightings: 1,218 (2008: 677; 2007: 497) Total 2009 cars: 588 (2008: 425; 2007: 310) Total overall sightings: 2,570 Total overall cars: 1,177 License plate states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC (+ Ontario and Quebec) By month: January: 51 (1/08: 38; 1/07: 23) February: 80 (2/08: 42; 2/07: 45) March: 66 (3/08: 58; 3/07: 41) April: 167 (4/08: 84; 4/07: 44) May: 180 (5/08: 75; 5/07: 41) June: 171 (6/08: 64; 6/07: 81) July: 222 (7/08: 60; 7/07: 48) August: 67 (8/08: 62; 8/07: 30) September: 25 (9/08: 45; 9/07: 57) October: 58 (10/08: 70; 10/07: 34) November: 29 (11/08: 24; 11/07: 40) December: 102 (12/08: 44; 12/07: 13) Best days, 2009: 1. Absolutely amazing year! Over 1,000 sightings!! Thanks for sharing this with us again, hope 2010 is even better!! -kevin
Not much out tonight but one nice surprise was a Lamborghini LP550-2 Balboni at the Ritz Carlton, it was there as of about 20 minutes ago so if anyone is in the area it's definitely worth checking out as they are only making 250 of them. This was definitely a good start to the new year for sure! Also is the first picture I've taken that I haven't absolutely hated. The car still looks terrible but the wheels divert your attention away from the big bubble butt. I wonder if that's the one from the Lamborghini dealership. They had one in the exact same color combo, but that one doesn't look like it's on Motorcars of Georgia's plates. So I wonder if it was already sold. Nice spot! -kevin
It's gotta be the same car, I can't imagine that there would be too many of them in Georgia much less two in the same color combo both in Atlanta. It had a regular plate on it so the owner could have already had one ready for it when he took delivery.
I think the black Panamera was at Lenox on the 30th... I never liked it in photos, but in person I think it looks very nice.
Excellent spot Andrew, thanks for the heads up. I was surprised to see that this car had the E gear. Valentino related to me that he prefers the gated shifter. The LP550-2 that I was in at Daytona was equipped with the 6 speed. "Happy New Year" to everyone. My first spots of the new year include, 1.Lamborghini LP550-2 Balboni at the Ritz 2.Red Ferrari F430 spider observed in Roswell near Andretti's Karting 3.Silver Lamborghini Gallardo on I-400 4.Lamborghini Murcielago at Lenox 5.Silver Ferrari 360 Modena just purchased from the Car Connection 6.Red Ferrari F430 spider on Peachtree Rd. near the Wendy's 7.Blue Ferrari 355 spider on the road near Phipps Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys! Happy new year to you too - hope to see the 360 around again this year, Andy! A few sightings lately as I've returned to Atlanta already. No doubt due to the cold, they've just been the "luxury" exotics: Tuesday January 5: - white Bentley Arnage at Whole Foods on West Paces. - black Maybach 57 at Lenox Mall valet. Wednesday January 6: - black Rolls-Royce Phantom at the Westin Buckhead. - black Rolls-Royce Phantom on Texas plates at Lenox Mall. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you going to try and see that white Arnage 1000 times this year? Kind of weird but I saw a different Phantom on Texas plates today, mine was silver at the Ritz. One other one to note is a gray R8 parked on the street at Chops Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
As always Doug, I loved reading your end-of-the-year roundup! I do have a question though...you keep up with the number of times you've seen each car, correct? Well, let's say for example, you've seen F430 #25 14 different times, and you spotted 67 different F430s overall, a large handful which were probably black. Well what if you spot that car from a far distance, turning down a road somewhere. How do you know it's that particular car (#25) and not new, unseen F430? Or possibly another F430 you've seen maybe 5 times? Do you just assume it's that particular car given the time and location you saw it? Do you know what I mean or am I making no sense? Just curious Thanks!
Yes! Perhaps then he will re-friend me on Facebook. In this case, I always err on the side of caution. I'm extremely cautious not to add an "extra" sighting, so if I don't get a plate number but I have even a slight suspicion that it might be a car I've already seen, I will consider it a car I've already seen. For instance, back in April 2008 I saw this F430 and stupidly forgot to get the tag number. It could be a new F430 that I hadn't seen before, but since it had the same wheels (at the time), calipers, and interior color as Lumberman's F430, I counted it as a sighting of his car. Of course there is some chance that it wasn't, but I'd rather double-count a car versus adding one undeserved sighting to a car's total. With all that said, I'm extremely careful to record plate numbers. I have them for about 85% of my sightings, and probably more like 95% of my sightings since late 2007, when I started hitting tons of duplicate cars and making a better effort to record them.
No problem! Nice day in Buckhead. Nice enough for Montanans and Alaskans, anyway... - silver Audi R8 on Florida plates at the Intercontinental; he later moved to general parking at Phipps Plaza. - gray Ferrari 360 Modena on temporary plates at Lenox Mall valet. - black Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on Montana "Let Buffalo Roam" plates at Phipps Plaza. - yellow Lamborghini Gallardo on temporary plates at Lenox Mall. - blue Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder at Capital Grille valet. - black Rolls-Royce Phantom on Tennessee dealer plates at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. Which one of you wants to fess up to the gorgeous new 612 and the ridicuous Montana plates (made even more ridiculous by the fact that the animal depicted on them is a bison, NOT a buffalo)? I've never seen those wheels before on a 612 and they look great as you can see in the photo. Good choice and thanks for driving it!!!
