It is really between just me and Jas, maybe shouldn't have even been in this thread. For the sake of the event, don't let this thread ruin it for you as my entire point early on was the thread would help the event. Jas is managing the event offline as Joe did the GTO event completely offline last year too. The event will be good.

How Ndidnthis pinwheel out of control? Let's just do this thing and let someone who wants to do the work organize and earn kudos. The Concorso deal and lodging that are in place are great and I am looking forward to my first Monterey in over 20 years

I would like to put in my .02 cent on this issue.

First of all, I think Jas should stay on and organize this event (if he wants to). He has dedicated many hours of his time researching and organizing this event and I can’t think of anyone better to finish it.

As for Rob and FChat, I could have launched this idea on many other Forums that we are all members of and frequently visit, but I chose this one because of the concentration of Ferrari F40 owners (Congrats!!). I would like FChat to be involved and promoted in this event but it is my opinion that it would be more beneficial if Rob/ FChat works together with Concorso directly to promote each other, since there will be many other Ferrari models at the event. Credit must be given where it is due and that is that FChat is where it all started. Thanks for being there!!!!

I ask that we put our egos aside and work together to make this a great event and even if we don’t beat the “world record” Who cares! We tried, had fun doing it, and met a lot of Ferrari enthusiasts along the way.

    Happy New Year!

    Dan

OK Guys Let's just keep focused and unwind the tight panties.
This event will happen and it will be one of the best three days of fun including a dramatic display at CI. I will personally guarantee it.
We at CI plan to roll out the red carpet like you have never seen before.
Tom McDowell and I have already taken steps to have Sig Leonardo Fioravanti present to be with all you F40 guys. Sig. Fiorarvanti worked for Ferrari at the time and was personally in charge of following the F40 project for Enzo. He speaks great English and this will be his first time to Monterey. So let's not let him down.
There will be other Italian personalities present as well. The planning is well under way in fact we were at the golf course yesterday and established a premium area for the F40's taking into account there will be many more than the 288GTO's we had last year.
Who ever takes up the leadership can count on myself and the staff of CI to make it a truly grand event. I draw your attention to the Pininfarina/Ferrari 50 year annaversary at Quail in the old days when I ran CI. Who could forget Piero Ferrari, Sigero Pininfarina and Luigi Chenetti driving up on the stage in the 3 seat 375 Ferrari.

Bottom line CI and myself can handle it. When a leader steps forward we/I will be happy to work with him/her with no drama. Until then it is business as usual and questions can be addressed to me here on FChat all in an open and transparent manor. I have a very thick skin and have been called everything in the book. They say a lot of things about me but everyone agrees I can be a son of a ***** sometimes but he runs one hell of a great car event!
    Let get this thing done!

I agree with this positive post, and I think all concerned parties should support this sentiment and work towards the event's success.

The present is always a good time to put the past behind, and meanwhile I think the details will soon iron themselves out.

Appreciate your thoughts Joe, hopefully we can meet in Monterey and firmly put the past behind...I know it already is :)

Your experience putting a couple of these shindigs together will come in handy no doubt.

Yes organizing these things is not easy, for the hosts, or for the organizer. I would say that a guiding light will be: have reasonable expectations.

The only other comment I would make is for the participants, and that would be to include your families because these type of events don't come around all the time and they are special. Whatever happens, there will be more F40s in one place than you can shake a stick at, and that in itself is wonderful thing.

My last word on Fchat involvement....

I think a new dedicated thread to this gathering is in order, devoid of the back and forth, and solely for the purpose of disseminating information regarding the event to enthusiasts, attendees, owners and participants.

While Rob has declined the invitation to take the lead role in organizing this event, the door is wide open to direct collaboration and promotion of this gathering, sincerely. I recognize, and have recognized, the unique role of fchat in bringing the global ferrari family together and am appreciative of that.

I will communicate the same with Tom at Concorso, and together we can figure out the best course for the event. The goal remains the same...the best possible gathering of cars and owners/spectators to effect an event befitting 20 yrs of the USA F40.

I see your point Rob and your right yet I doubt I would be able to attend simply because I will most likely have to work. I'll check back after I graduate and I'm gainfully employed and if my schedule does not interfere I would still love to attend.

Just curious about one thing Jas is there going to be a DVD made of the event?? Anywho all my best to everyone and with the event.

    Happy Sunday,
    tex

    Gregg,

I have contemplated having a professional photographer chronicle the event, but didn't really think of doing a dvd. I think thats a great idea and worth looking at...I'm sure the owners/spectators/enthusiasts would appreciate that for posterity....especially for the track portion which we are working really hard to achieve (chief credit to peloton (Ron) for working hard to this end :))

    Jas,
Yes I think it would be fantastic to have a DVD made especially for those who might not be able to attend. I want to attend this event so very bad and would do anything to helpout no matter what the task may be yet sadly I cannot commit at the moment for attendance (although I will still try to purchase a ticket & goody bag because I know it will helpout with initial cost). This event is definitely on my list and I pray that my schedule allows me to attend aswell as helpout. As I mentioned I will see how the cookie crumbles and try to attend this great event.

Not sure if there is anything I could help with but if you need any assistance in any way please let me know. PM me if you need my cell# for anything.

    Gregg

    PS,
I'm am a broke college student at the age of 45 go figure LOL!!!

I would like to clarify the below 2 sentences so there is absolutely no ambiguity.
I was typing fast last night because my wife was in the background nagging me to "get ready" to leave for our progressive dinner night out which we were already late for.

    "I will personally guarantee it."
In this sentence I was referring to the CI portion of the F40 event only.

"Until then it is business as usual and questions can be addressed to me here on FChat all in an open and transparent manor."

To be clear this sentence should have included the words "relating to the Concorso Italiano special guest portion of the event."
So the sentence should have read.

Until then it is business as usual and questions - relating to the Concorso Italiano special guest portion of the event - can be addressed to me here on FChat all in an open and transparent manor.

I in NO WAY meant to imply that i was accepting questions regarding the event itself and in NO WAY want any part of managing or direction the F40 event.

The Concorso and I fully support Jas and all those who work with him on this project.
In the end I am only an advisor and Tom McDowell the CEO of Concorso italiano will make all final decisions regarding Concorso Italiano.
Looking forward to a great event.

    Frank,

We are proud that Concorso Italiano is hosting this event and the hospitality and support extended by Tom and his staff has been tremendous...we are truly appreciative.

We will work hard to produce a gathering that justifies the faith Concorso has placed in us.....the venue, stage, support and special guest all suggest a truly memorable event for all spectators and enthusiasts. I certainly hope to meet as many fchatters there as possible.

I also reiterate my desire to have fchat involved in some capacity. We recognize the value and benefit of this forum and I sincerely hope that Concorso and Fchat can work collectively to bring forth a memorable event for all attendees.

Here is what I recommend, but you need to ask for it...

    1) As you say, create a new thread and close this one. Get all your info and details together that you want posted on FerrariChat publically. After you post it I will close this thread and then that will be the main one.

    2) For promotion I'm willing to send same info to the 130 users that claim to own a F40, many of these aren't active anymore or don't own the F40 anymore, but it may reach out to some that didn't know about the event.

    3) Once this year I can include info from you in the monthly Newsletter that is now going to 45k recently active users.
