good morning lads ...
& i thought this kind of random occurence only happened on PC's ... like with their occassionally spurious RAM's ... but then again, there IS an ECU populated with chips ... wonder if the problem is a chip going bad ... hope not ... cos it's hell to isolate ...
well those freaking astons are sex on wheels mate.... and would make a rather nice compliment to the Bentley for sure!!!
Interesting analogy....Whatever it is mate, its not good enough that Sam says its nothing to worry about. We wouldn't accept such an explanation from a Kia or Hyundai service centre.... why on earth would it be acceptable from Sam.... just because its a Ferrari??? Bollocks!!! I am staying with my German beetle!!! I remember that my crap Italian wannabe once almost caught fire... and that was right after I picked it up from Hong Seh!!!!!
Derek, don't worry. I don't always agree with MP but I respect him so it's all cool. Life would be boring if we all shared the same opinions all the time. I think there's enough friendship here within the forum to survive the occasional heated exchange Hope your ride gets sorted soon; I wouldn't buy the "don't worry until it happens again" view as well!
think you've seen the match report. their keeper played a blinder but we got lucky when they skied a penalty in the dying minutes. strange match, we played until the lights suddenly got switched off - and then it was game over!
Wish I could have played. btw do they have DBSs to test drive? Or is it one of those... just choose color.
I agree. It could be worse the next time. You might be cruising past hot babes and then sputter to a halt or blow up altogether!
Gosh, does that really happen? Only one bank working? No wonder there was this one time when I fired it up and it sounded lame, ran weakly and then died going up a slope.
is the car under warranty ? if so probably best to refer to italauto who wld be doing the rectification work. possibly sam was being uh diplomatic since technically it wldnt b him hving to solve the problem ? can they run diagnotics to check why the clutch overheated? i thot once it cools off n drives normally, very hard to diagnose problem. does clutch only overheat in hard driving or can it also overheat in stop go traffic shifting form n thru 1n2 repeatedly? harold which is the "crap Wannabe"? the 348? did it almost catch fire due to human error in repair/maintenance or inherent fault of car itself. how old was the car then ? got to be a bit less exacting on older cars surely- ive had some old 911 n 928 that had a plethora of problems too - a lot due to deferred or shortcut maintenance - so sometimes cant always blame the car
heard good things abt these re11 tyres. understand they r not technically semi slick but still extreme performance . supposedly much better than rosso or ps2 n wont wear out so fast as corsa. probab safer in wet than corsa also. pitstop tyres at esso station atwhitley/stevens rd can bring in- price quite reasonable
glad to see u two have kissed n made up( not a pretty image actually) but coming to the point about poser cars , exotic cars, performance cars - surely this is all too subjective n is a question of degree -if u wanted no compromise performance on track or max top speed, some wld say even porsches would not do. u want bespoke gt long haul driving in comfort, again different considerations apply. point is we all compromise n to a certain extent theres always some poser/performance element in the choice of car we make- for me the ferraris generally have just the right blend
Actually, some years back one of our friend took his just serviced 997C2S out of LengKee workshop from a service & the engine caught fire within few hundred metres..... I don't know what happened but things like this can happen to any makes but old Ferraris have more issue due to old fuel lines & a very hot engine. Tim, your Stradale has a very bad habit of self combustion back there, there's at least one each in Bangkok, Hongkong & Taiwan in recent years. Please do get all the piping joints checked @ every service & not just verbal "yes sir" Some of u may rem that my Murcie was smoking out @ the wrong place one morning which turned out to be a leaking coolant pipe that had liquid dropping onto the exhaust manifold shield. Derek, I feel your pain on this car & it's your only ride which makes it worse In my old 348 there was a nuisance issue whereby grease sipped into the clutch housing causing it to slip & of course lose power. I had the same symptoms as yours though my car is a few generations before yours. But yours is not a consistent problem which makes it tricky & of course, there's always a chance of a new clutch job not properly done. This is part of the reason why I hate electronic gearboxes. A faulty sensor on your bonnet will also tell the car not to shift into gear! Please update us when you get anything out of it. Cheers.
OK a question. My first long trip with the 997TT. @ certain parts of Tangkak & later, the car was very very bumpy (bouncing) for few hundred metres to the point of irritating & thought it could actually bounced off the road! I switched off the PASM & still the same, was doing about 160-180. I look @ the road condition & it was fine. This happened to my Murcie once on the return leg which I lowered the stock suspension & it was solved. I've not had this issue on my 964 recently which had upgraded bilstiens. Neither did the M5. When the car was going on the usual KL roads with lots of uneveness, the car glides over nicely without drama so it was absorbing all the bumps where my M5 & 964 will get a hard bump while other normal cars will get a very serious 'bump'. So, is the suspension on my 997 too hard or too soft??? I can try to lower the suspension & test again but then I'd definitely need the lifter over here. Thanks for whatever thoughts.
Hey mate. Like to race? How about participating in Carrera Cup, Trofeo or any of the races & be a real man. No, I'm serious! That'll be my dream..... to enter a proper race with a crowd cheering on must be damn wet! There's also the annual 12hrs Merdeka & u don't even need a supercar for that. I'll be there to cheer you on or be a pitcrew if u don't mind me getting in the way. Go Mp Go, Go Mp Go!
What is the tire pressure you are using on the Turbo? Was the bouncing high frequency or low (slow) frequency bounces?
im no hardcore trekkie, but this is my idea of proper racing, wheel to wheel , trying to finish ahead of other cars on the same track at the same time, not just trying to do best timed lap in isolation
If car has warning lights coming up, a read of the ecu should identify what errors were recorded then be erased. Yup mate, the crap wannabe was the 348... too old to be considered a real Italian stallion hence the term wannabe. Car was the same age as my 964 though and I held them for a period concurrently... and the 964 never wanted to burn on itself as compared with the 348. Also the 993 which was only 2 years newer than the 348 never wanted to burn on me. The 964 and the 348 was approx 9 years old at the time of ownership. Brought the 348 in because of a weird smell from the aircon to Hong Seh, they said wait it out.... I did by driving out of the workshop only to have smoke come from the aircon. They should have checked it rather than wait and see....
