Hey guys, i have just revamped my website for 2010 and uploaded a lot more photos on it. Some never seen before and some cars probably quite familiar. So feel free to drop by and take a look! Thanks! http://www.vanq.net
I spoke to my wife about taking part in a race once...and she freaked! That was the end of the conversation.
one family of 5 and 2 maids.... one car that fits them all... one car that doesn't...and the unfortunate fact that the GT doesn't fit much either, a car porch that only fits two cars.... oh yeah.... and the fact that banking is still not the most secure of jobs....
Yup, I know that bro and I think Jon knows that as well and may be asking for future reference if he changes his suspension system. Is stock turbo suspension adjusted at all? Height?
daily we go to work together mate... remember i drop the kids and all... she will bring the X5 home... I use the taxi on the way home as usually out with customers in the evening...
ah ok mate. thought you were telling him just to go get the cars rebound and compression adjusted and see how. jon. if you want to go down the route of fully adjustable suspension, forget about bilsteins, techart, jic etc. The king of the hill for full adjustability is Moton. And to top it off they no longer require the use of external reservoirs which was a real pain to mount for the rear shocks. These shocks have apparently got far better road manners than many other shock systems out there and yet are fully track ready should the urge ever hit you. There are a couple of good suppliers in the US that stock them. BUT, you still really need an expert to figure it all out and like I said before you could end up with a worse handling car with a cool suspension. You need to know the spring rates that you want to use, the exact way in which you want the car to handle etc... and after all this they will send you the shocks and the relevant springs. From there you will need to find someone here that really understands suspension to get the rebound and compression matched up perfectly... or you can rely on the guys on the US to set it up based on what you tell them you want. But you really need to know what you are looking for or they wont be able to set up the shocks for you. After that, alignment needs to be sorted. As it wont be a track car, you can probably just look at standard 997tt spec alignment or a bit of toe in at the rear for stability and slight toe out front for better turn in without sacrificing straight line speed and adversely affecting hard braking stability with marginal negative camber front and rear for slightly better cornering- should not greatly affect tire wear. Ask Smoothie on PorscheSG for more advice.. he is also pretty clued into the theory of suspension. I ran -2.5 deg front and about -2.8 deg rear last track day and loved it. Have decided to keep it as such for the road but tire wear will be an issue.... Alternatively sit in Ron's car like I mentioned before. He is running the mildly upgraded Bilstein B16 set up on his 997TT with some other mods and changes to alignment. See if you like it.... that may be all that you need.
COmpression is when the car depresses and goes down....Rebound is the rate at which it comes back out. A metaphoric way of looking at it; compression is when the stroke enters, depending on how wet and tight it is. The rate will vary, the variable at which it enters, while the rebound is the rate which you withdraw, depending also on the rate/speed/sensation which you withdraw, once again, variable is there.
