Looks like a pretty big project undertaking; at least by Daytona standards. What is the prior history on this car?

Is it a Euro version? Original color combination known? Interesting project!

    Yes,
It's a Euro version, colors were blue/tan. The car was from the east coast, and the owner brought it to a mechanic who worked out of his house. The motor was pulled, oil in the water, and the owner never paid the mechanic, so the parts were piled inside the car, and the hood was placed on the roof, and the car was pushed out side of the mechanic's shop. It sat out doors for 4 years, enduring rain and snow and ice. I ended buying it on behalf of my customer from the previous owner. This is also a "TYPE A" Daytona! Let the restoration fun begin! In the next few weeks, we will post step by step photo's of making new door skins, new door frames, new exhaust being fabricated, along with all the mechanicals, as well. Stay tuned!
By the way, the discovery was that the oil cooler tubes that were internal in the water radiator sprung leaks in the coolant, therefore, there was no actual motor problem.

I would not rule that out; a cursory glance and renewal of bearing inserts, all seals, piston rings, gaskets and a valve grind should be considered minimal. With any real luck, the cylinder walls won't be pitted more than a honing can clean up.

Now then, how does one go about getting someone to abandon a Ferrari at their house?
(my address can be made available...)

That car actually looks quite good for a Ferrari that sat out in the waether for 4 years. Great project, wish I had found it!

Gary has the owner decided yet if the car will be blue/tan again or something different? Hard to tell from the pics what material covered the dash...any preference? Thanks

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. I love the Daytona.

PS, Gary, I enjoyed your interview on Adam Carolla CarCast. That '69 Miura S is awesome.

This is actually pretty good timing, as Grant's Daytona will be assembled and on the road soon, he probably won't be giving us as much of a picture-fix as during the past couple of years.

I hope that someone else keeps that in mind as this new project turns the corner, and fills the gap

    :)
