Proud to be in the club ! The car is spectacular. Got it for my birthday...the guy I bought it from (Rockstar) told me that I need to change the hydraulic fluid when the convertible top gets slow or stops working. The manual doesn't really say how, or where this is located, or what type of fluid? Please help.

I just had my top serviced last week. You have to take off the rear panel (either carpet or leather) directly behind the passenger seat and THEN relocate the electronics to get to the fluid container. NOT a smart design at all.

I WOULD not attempt it UNLESS you have extensive mech. skills; which I am smart enough to know that I do not.

    Hope this helps

Its really not rocket science... panel is behind passengers seat in corner. Remove that (you may break the cheap 50 cent trim clips pulling it off) remove the cylinder from the bracket, turn it so you can fill it.

There are detailed directions here if you do a search, I checked/topped off to max fill line (took very little) mine & its about a 15 minute task.. other than breaking the trim clips (ricambi has them) all went well. Make sure you use proper fluid, again the post on here with instructions tells you what to get- mercedes benz makes compatible fluid if I remember right

I have topped my fluid off once. Not a big deal.

However, I have not heard about having replacing the fluid.

Is there a documented time interval for this?

If the top is slow or stops working sound like there is a leak, not worn fluid..

You guys are GREAT ! So glad that I joined FerrariChat. I wasn't planning to do it myself, but have my neighbor who fixes my Benz & Porsche do it. I am terrible at repairs, but good at delegation. My first Facebook post after getting the car - "I love driving it. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." (And i do know everyone on this site probably thinks/or has said the same thing. But I had to say it !)

I admire those of you that have the ability to tackle these tasks. With my luck, I would break several components and still have to take the car to the shop.

After reading the post on HOW to """" I really think the $100 I spent was well worth it. Also they had to remove a subwoofer that is behind the passenger seat (only took 5 minutes or so).

Please keep us informed on the outcome.

It sounds like it moves then stops. If the switches are working & adjusted and the fluid is correct I would go with a weak pump. BUT, I would go seek qualified help because you just exceeded my knowledge of the system.
