I had a funny incident. drove the Lambo Gallardo upto 90 Miles an hour for 2 miles and parked in the driveway. Heard a spray like noise and smoke come from the engine compartment for a few seconds. Nothing when the hood was opened and after a few seconds the symptoms went away. Drove after than at did the diagnostics check on the dash and no problems. All gages are normal.
Any suggestions on waht it could have been.

Did you notice any odors? If its an e-gear car first guess would be a pinhole leak in the high pressure hydraulics that burnt off on the exhaust?

Maybe an oil cooler line doing the same thing?

There are also some helpful techs on the ********** forum if you don't get it solved here

Coolant overflow? I'd look into it.

Definitely sounds like water from somewhere sizzling off of a hot manifold. It could be as simple as leftover water from washing the car that found it's way there or coolant overflow as the previous person suggested.

That would have a pretty distinctive smell wouldn't you think?

I would think water from washing the car or driving through water on the street seems most likely. anything else would have a distinct odor and/or smoke, or there would be a puddle under the car, low coolant/oil warning, etc.

    Farhan,

I found your problem and it's bad news, buddy. You have to have your motor rebuilt.

Just kidding. Give us a little more to go on. Smell anything funny? Any idea where in the engine bay it came from? It literally could be a host of things. It's probably nothing serious but you have to find out where it's coming from.

Drive your car again and see if it happens. If it does, let us know more details.

    Good luck.

Check all your fluid levels first, it may help you focus your search. Plus you don't want to cause any damage if something is low.

thanks for the responses folks., Its a stick shift No odors, no leaks or puddles even after 30 hours. Drove it for 10-15 miles and could not replicate. No odors of any kind even when idling in the garage for 5 min. Pretty strange though. The only think was I had the A/C low on the lowest setting and the temp outside was 62 degrees. All gages are normal. The steam came from the vents clsoe to the rear mirror, when I got open the engine hood, there was nothing visible and no replication.

    My 2 cents.

I wouldn't let it slide. I'd get it checked out with a mechanic. Have him look through the engine for signs of any leak and have him run the car and again look for a leak. If he does a good job and can't find anything then let it go but keep an eye open in case it happens again. Also, run it for a bit outside and check under it and check the ground for anything dripping (you said you did but check inside the engine as well, although you probably did that too).

I would bring it in, though, so they can lift it and look under it, etc. An oil leak can cause a car fire. A leaky water hose will go eventually.

Farhan, could it have been water from or recent rain? Is the car going back to the shop soon anyway?

We need to get together for a drive soon. I have a few friends with Porsches in town that are interested.

Was the smoke from the engine compartment or the front trunk area? You initially said engine and then you said near the rear view mirror which is the opposite end of the car. If it came from the front it could be a leak in one of the front-mounted coolers or A/C system since that's about all that's up there other than windshield fluid and battery.

What were the water temps looking like if you recall after your initial drive that produced the smoke?
