Be fore my back surgery last week,my slow down lite on bank 5-8 flashed on and off.Steve told me what to check for and I found some cracked and chafed wires.Since I should be back on my feet in a couple of weeks,I've been looking at prices for wires,ALL I CAN SAY IS DAMN!!!! Is there an alternative wire that will work on my car?The extensions for the plugs are all good checked with my ohm meter.Any help will be appreciated,Harry Sorry for any misspelling I'm still on pain killers and valium. The car is a 1982 308GTSI.

There a good instructional link at many locations but i got mine from the Birdman and there is a thread on this. His address is birdmanferrari.com I believe. Accel 4040 was the recommendation then and it worked perfectly for me though some people said they had to pare down the wire slightly.

Check with Dave Helms on this board. He has a wire solution that makes valium strictly optional. :)

I believe a number of other folks here have used it with positive results.

I second Dave Helms. He will make you a perfect set of wires for a fraction of what Ferrari will sell them to you for, and they will be better.

I also have an 82 GTSi and Dave Helms has the product and the knowledge that you seek
I wasted two sets of wires (suggested by other posts) before I wised up and realized that there are allot of opinions here but only a few with answers. Dave is certainly one that knows! IMHO Lostbowl

That isn't to say you can't make your own, but there is a certain skill set to it, and its possible to mess it up. I'm an electrical engineer and I messed up one of the wires on the set I made. If you do it yourself, just be sure you get some good shielded wire, like 7mm Taylor and you will be fine. (Solid core wire will cause all kinds of problems with the ignition ECUs on the injected cars.)

Accel makes some great red high performance wires available at most auto parts stores for about $35. If you cut them appropriately, there's plenty of extra wire to make a second coil wire.

    PM him or email.

He'll respond in a day or two. He's been slightly under the weather lately.
