If they were all priced, and 'worth' exactly the same. Decision based soley upon design, performance, style, usability, etc. (Not price, future value, etc.).

Just wondering, because sometimes as the years roll by, the cars don't necessarily 'improve.'

By "Modern" I included the TR series, as the Boxer was from the '70s era. Also only production, not Enzo.

    Oops....I meant 12 Cylinder....not just V12. Sorry.

I went with the 575. I think it has classic good looks in the roughly modernized version of the Daytona (which is one of the all-time greats in my opinion). It is not overly gaudy and does not the presence of the TR/512M series. It is wonderfully understated, IMO. From the time it was launched as the 550 I thought it was a beautiful design.

    Just my .02

    I agree.
I just like the older, more traditional instrument cluster of the 550, the gated shifter (though you can find them on the 575 rarely) and the tighter/sportier suspension of the 550 (until they fixed the 575 hindling later on that is).
I also like the lower, wider appearance of the 550 grill compared to the 575. Though, the 575 wheels are so much better than the 550s.

    I wanna a carbed Boxer...

    A 456....

And a 550, like Dr. Barry! (and you!) On second thought make it a 550 Barchetta 6 speed!

I like that gated gearbox too, which would make the manual 599GTb my last option, and rule OUT an Enzo......or an FXX.

Look at all the money I saved!

    If I can't have a classic V12, I'd probably go for a late 512 TR.

The others are more luxury cars, good for everyday driving, but not as interesting as the V8 sports cars.

But I really want a Daytona, not a 'modern homage to the old school front-engined Ferrari'.

The performance of the 599GTB is undeniable, but to me, the 550 is by far the sexiest modern V-12 available. In fact, I would place it's beauty in my top 3 modern Ferraris. Coming behind the 355 and 288GTO(if this is even considered modern anymore), respectively.

I'd probably opt for a 348 to cover my mid-engine Ferrari needs, so I'd go for a 550 to get the V12. I'd pick the 550 one over the 575 because you're more likely to find one with a manual transmission. :D

About the only thing I'd disagree with you on is the wheels. I prefer the simpler design of the 550 wheels, as opposed to the multiple rivets shown on some of the wheels I've seen 575s fitted with.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

My first thought was the 456, but it wasn't listed. Guess I'd have to "settle" for a 550...

    Dang! I can't believe I forgot the 456!
Sorry. I have a head cold and taking cold meds.
    I love the 456...though I still prefer the 550.

    A 550.

Ideally a WSR edition, because its in exactly the spec I want it in. Grigio titanio, bordeaux interior, shields, FHP, sport seats etc etc. The OMP cage is a bonus. I much prefer it over the 575, which looks odd to me somehow.

However I keep playing about with the ferrari configurator and the 599 in blue TDF, cuoi (spelling?) interior, shields and yellow calipers is incredibly attractive. Add the HGTC package and the newer wheels and you've got a winner on hands almost!

Oooh, that's interesting. Is that a photoshop, custom modification, or did Ferrari actually make an extended version of the 456? :)

    Interesting.
I'm impressed that 550 and 599 are neck and neck.

The 550's one vote ahead!

I guess that just goes to show it's not all about absolute performance. :)

Technically, the TR had a V12 engine, its just that the V-angle was 180 degrees.

On the other hand, Porsche engines are flat-6s due to the way the crankshaft is layed out.

550 for me. The first Ferrari I ever saw was a yellow 550 in Switzerland. So that plus its stunning good looks is enough for me.

    575. Very nice looking with decent storage space for longer trips. I've actually toyed with the idea of a 550 as a second Ferrari to keep my 328 company. Prices seem very reasonable at the moment.

I'm one of the 4 that voted 512M. Later 575 6-Speed manual w/the egg crate grill would be pretty sweet too though.

Interesting that nobody's voted for the 612 yet... surely there must be some 612 owners on this forum somewhere? :p

    All the best,
    Andrew.
