Understanding Windows 7's 'GodMode'

Tried it just now, it's simply a folder with direct links to every control panel setting. Nothing "god" about it.

 

Save everyone a trip to the link

step 1. Make a new folder on your desktop

step 2. Name it this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

ALL DONE.

does have some nice features, puts a lot of stuff you have to dig around for in one place.

and gives you a cute desktop icon.

I'll dig around in it a bit today, nice little bonus feature.

This is pretty nifty. It looks like it will really come in handy if I ever need to change some obscure setting again... without it I'd probably be digging through menus for 20 minutes trying to find it...

 

Is it just me or should that be the default "Settings" menu of the system rather than breaking it up all over the place? Why would they hide that?

 

Probably because of atleast two reasons:

1) This menu gives quick access to some settings that can have wide ranging implications on your system if you change them inadvertently, so really should only be tampered with by people that either a) know what they are doing or b) don't care if they end up hosing their system

2) Not as pretty as the primary interface
