I am looking for a replacement RS232 cable (goes between the Laptop and the SD2 box) with the round connector end.

If you have upgraded your diag tools and have a spare let me know I woudl be interested in purchasing it. If you have ever had one repaired and have a contact for repair let me know.

    Thanks

The RS233 cables can be found at any computer sales store - is the end on the SD2 different than the standard RS232?

It is an easy matter to open the box and install a commonly available plug. I saw a number of Challenge team SD2's that saw rough service and broken cords get that modification.

Don't be shocked when you see how little is in that expensive box.

It looks like a bayonet connector. They are used in military & commercial equipment because they don't just pull off and they are quick connect.

In this application that is part of the problem. Due to the nature of its use the cords wind up being strung across the floor and they get tripped over. They really shoud be simple pull out connections.

Get your dealer to order one, if you have a guy on the inside.

Most Sd2's i've used in dealerships over the years have had that crummy plug replaced. As Rifledriver said, it's not a good choice of plug for that application.

I may have an answer before the end of the day. Cables to go can make a replacement cable for 50 dollars are less, if they have a diagram of the conversion from the 9 pin R232 to the 6 Pin barrel connector.
If anyone has this information, please forward and I will post the quoted price and availability
