That looks like the real deal. The ONLY thing that would possibly make me second guess myself, is the paint on the driver's side door and the paint on the rear quarter panel don't seem to match. It seems the panel's paint is more metallic and brighter, while the door seems darker and less metallic. It might just be the lighting though...
Looks legit to me. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember an article about the "Machiavelli" cars in Automobile magazine from around 1985. The guy behind the company said Ferraris look more like his cars than they look like Ferraris. Phillip Michael Thomas was an investor in the company. In the article he referred to himself as a "wing-footed god". I did a quick search and found the old article: http://books.google.com/books?id=m62hUR6CTEIC&pg=PA132&lpg=PA132&dq=I+am+a+wing+footed+god+michael+thomas&source=bl&ots=or38t1HCYJ&sig=Q9PBjgDFP_gezUJ228f79wXwmpU&hl=en&ei=2W5WS8mRE8iVtgeNxYmqBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=false

That's the one used if Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It isn't very close to what a real California looks like but at least no Ferrari's were sacrificed in its creation. Good luck to the seller! If he can get his price he's a great salesman. Regards, Art S.
For half that money you could re-purpose that 456 salvage car and have a new chassis built with an aluminium body. (I've thought about it)... Why so much for a plastic/glass/SBF with a solid axle? I don't get it- but I hope the seller gets his price.
I seem to recall that this car was sold in an auction about 2 years ago for about £30,000? Please don't quote me on this, as i did not make a note of it oblivious reasons. Grant
Nice looking car. Hate the giant shields and the bullet mirrors, but other than that I'd say it looks great. I know nothing about the originals, so I am speaking about it beening nice to look at rather than accurate. As a former replica owner (Superformance Cobra), I would say that this car is a good effort. Nice engine too, but to me a V-12 would make all the difference. A cobra replica similarly equiped would run $55,000, tops. Since there aren't many California replicas out there, I would think this car would be worth more but not over $100K. For the money they are asking I think they would need some sort of Ferrari V-12 and/or an aluminum body.
