where can i get the rubber that surrounds and touches the rear hatch glass INSIDE of the frame NOT the one that touches the body work and seals the hatch on the outside of the frame? Also looking for the outside door/window rubber that runs horizontally along bottom of window and touches at glass on both driver and passenger door glass. Got window channel gasket already but this is different ( looks like fabric rivited in with rubber attached) Gary 8394
I hadn't really looked closely at the tan espada until now (it's been on ebay several times before), but does it have both maroon and brown interior bits? I'm trying to account for the lighting differences, but compare the front seats to the console and rear seats, door panels, etc...The dash even seems to be a darker shade of brown than the seats? Anyone know this car?
I noticed the multicolored interior too. The front seats have been recovered. It appears that a dye job has left the rest of the interior with a wierd appearance. The car looked dirty as though it had not been well taken care of for quite a few years. Over all, I thought the car looked awful in these pictures. A very poor eBay presentation. The engine compartment tells a story. In case you didn't notice it, there's extra equipment in the rear cargo area behind that seat back. I think it's a blower/evaporator for the beefed up AC system. God knows these cars need it but it makes for an ugly installation. Rust is appearing in the usual spots too. Maybe the car is very good mechanically? It's going to need a ton of cosmetic work. I think you can do better than this one. Looking at the low eBay bid amounts it would appear that Espada offering prices are in the toilet at the moment. That's true for many F cars as well. Bob S.
Gary, Once it's apart post the pictures here and over on VLG. There have been several companies mentioned in the last 18 months on the VLG site. They're all expensive but they have a lot of what you're looking for. I suggest you wear a necklace of garlic, a crucifix and have the Rube Goldberg repair book handy before you open up those door panels ... I have a friend who used to supply this kind of stuff for the Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini market a few years ago. He tells me that most of this can be sourced for a lot less money via samples supplied to domesitc (USA) providers if you're will to do the leg work. So you might be able to match something up. Check Hemmings, there are some references in there. Bob S.
I'd agree there's definitely been a drop in the last couple months - it looked like they were going to stay higher forever. I have bought a lot off ebay but am not sure I'd take a chance on any of the cars without seeing in person. The supposed ex-nick cage espada only brought 24,000 but listing was very vague and of course it was missing the front seat and had that wet-bar installed in its place. Seller might have done better to claim it was ex-dean martin instead. What do you guys recommend for the best classified site for seling or buying these type of cars? There are so many sites out there now.
They should be; but, they have "never" been high. Virtually all of the negatives being said about the Espada, are from individuals who have not, and never will own one. They are wonderful cars. I am afraid we will see lots of parts cars in the future because of the current attitude. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is this the car you're talking about? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-Espada-1976-Lamborghini-Espada-Series-III-400GT2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem33594d2dadQQitemZ220541562285QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks#v4-35 No reserve starting at $29K. Looks like it's very much worth checking out. Original it's not but it appears well looked after. Bob S.
I don't know who bought the ex Nic Cage bar-car Espada but here's something you might be looking for http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-Espada-Black-Passenger-Side-Seat-S1-S2-S3_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a56b45516QQitemZ250562762006QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Where is the best place to research just how many Espadas still exist? I have looked in Lamborghini registry, etc. I have had many collectors say somewhere around half of them are gone. Any ideas?
Serendipity...You know the guy selling this saw the bar car and though "holy sh**, here's my chance!" Its a small world...
This is going unanswered over there: >> Hi does anyone know this car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250563664469&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT I'm thinking of bidding, but as I live in the UK, I can't visit the car... Thanks
I think I'd need to open up that bar and pour a stiff one before I'd pay the asking price for that beat-up seat. Bob S.
If the definition of a survivor is: "a car thats roadworthy or not-roadworthy but economically justified to make roadworthy" it must be around half of the production (600 units) + another 150 units (partly) existing but not worth to restore at current prices. Im collecting info on Espadas since 1997 and found traces for over 400 survivors from which about 250 are living in Europe, 100 in the USA, 20 in Australia, 10 in Canada and another 20 in other countries including exotic destinations like Bahrain, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
Thanks Kevin. I would love to examine your finds. If there is only about 100 Espadas in the USA, then it is more important than ever to understand how important these cars are. Do you know how many are right hand drive cars? With the current attitude towards the Espada, I feel the 150 +/- cars that fit in the "needing help" category are doomed to be parts cars. I wish I could buy them all. I spent a year of my life "saving" the yellow car that I recently posted. I am very proud of that. The photos posted should create quite a buzz. Anyone who has sat in the Espada, and driven the car, understands how amazing the Espada is. The individuals who have not, should keep their opinions reserved, because they do not know. The Espada was celebrated when it was new and the Espada should be celebrated now. Thanks again Kevin for the information you have found. Steve. Steve, I see a tan/gold car being worked on but I also see a small portion of the corner of one in the garage. Is that the Yellow one? Gold, yellow, green? How many of these cars have you had? Bob S.
Hi Steve, Ive read the number of 115 RHD Espadas produced and believe this is correct. Great to see you saved one of the project cars ! I will sent you a PM for the Espadas in the USA.
Thanks Kevin! Hi Bob, I have only had 5 Lamborghinis. I owned a 1977 Urraco for 15 years, Three Espadas (2 series IIIs,1 series II), and a 1968 Islero. The gold one is what turned out to be the yellow one. My painter called and told me that the color didn't look as we thought. After we both talked about it, we decided to go with it.(Lamborghini sahara metallic). We dissasembled the car(new windshield, bonnet, etc). Everyone thought it turned out great. The gentleman that bought the Espada (also Gallardo owner),drove it 6 hours to his house! It took a year, (every weekend), and I almost lost a finger! It made me very proud to see how it turned out. Steve.
