link: Mozilla will unleash Firefox 3.6 tomorrow!

snippet: "...the new features in 3.6, including quick theming with Personas - which is up to a whopping 35 THOUSAND themes now. Firefox now also scans for plugins that need to be updated, for extra stability and security. Beltzner also focuses on designer features like CSS gradients, accelerometer support and web standards support..."

Do you know if the new Firefox will help us Mac users that accidentally hit an iTunes site (you know, when the tabs open quickly and infinitely; freezing everything up and requiring a total FireFox shutdown)?

:D Switch to a PC or Linux = Problem Solved :D

Seriously, I've switched to Google Chrome on XP, Linux, and on my Mac. Firefox
is quickly becoming a Microsoft-type application with it's ENDLESS updates and
"please wait while Firefox installs updates" messages.

Chrome on all OS computers just works faster and better, at least for me.

Posted from Chrome on a Linux box....

I should try CHROME (our oldest is a google alum so no excuses :) ) I have also been using Opera. Do you know if Chrome avoids the iTunes meltdown?

    Great advice, Jedi, thanks!

I had problems with Firefox being slow after installing Win7 64. I have since switched to Chrome and enjoyed it.

A browser switch is a pretty big deal for me since I've used Firefox since 0.8!

    Just installed 3.6.

it is SIGNIFICANTLY snappier rendering webpages that I frequent... very nice improvement.

Now I can search through FCHAT even faster!

I've been playing around with Chrome for the last couple of days, after working with Firefox the last 6 months or so. I have become a fan of Chrome, very snappy.

Used F-Fox for a while. Tried Chrome liked it but I liked the gadgets/widgets/addons on FFox so I flipped back and forth. Now that Chrome has add-ons it has been no competition and I only use Chrome now. My brother has Opera and he LOVES it.

After reading this thread, I decided to give Chrome another try and I love it. I was getting tired of firefox updating itself every few days and asking me to restart all the time. I've also noticed that Chrome blocks out ads a lot better than firefox did, even with all the pop up blocker add ons turned on.

Just as Firefox improved markedly over mega-buggy Netscape derived Mozilla et al, how much has Chrome improved in last 6 months [2.0 > 3.0]?

I use both browsers. :) They both have the good and bad points. Chrome was much faster when it 1st came out but now FF is about the same.

Security wise FF still leads the way but Chrome now has html5 support.

People see "updates" as a negative but that just shows they are actively working on fixing exploits and bugs.

Installed 3.6 on a laptop at home last night and it seemed ok so this morning I installed it on my primary laptop at work. No good. Wouldn't work with our proxy properly - wouldn't cache the credentials or something. No time to screw around with it so back to 3.5.7 I went. Ah, technology, don't ya just love it? ;)

I just have a very short attention span and when I think of something I want to check on the interweb I don't want to have to wait for my browser to update itself before I can do anything. By the time it's done updating, I will have forgotten whatever I wanted to look up anyways. I'm happy that they are fixing things in the browser, but 2-3 times a week was getting a bit much.

My PS3 does pretty much the same thing every time I turn it on and it drives me crazy

Read that chrome now synchronizes bookmarks and that was it, I made the switch early this week and am very glad it did. No more waiting for update after update, and firefox used to really slow down my system after a while (known issue, but not fixed in several months).

Very happy with chrome. No unending updates, no computer slowdown, and even if I lose my hard disk, I won't lose my bookmarks. Now if only it could maintain different profiles in different windows so I don't have to keep signing out of one Gmail account before being able to check another one.
